I don't think they can, although some try

Passengers like, not piloting their own planes?

    What is mental illness? Depression?

Whilst doing my training the other year we were asked a similar question. Should a person suffering from Schizophrenia be allowed to fly? The answer was yes. They may have a mental disease, but medication keeps it under control.

which is all well and good, but who's responsible for making sure medication is administered?

what is mental illness, define it. Does it include personal idiosyncratic behavoiurs associated with depression and anxiety among other things . If so then more than 7/8 of the population would not be allowed to fly. Do not perceive mental illness as if it were some rare tropicl disease. It is infact a condition which you may or may not experience and,if not you, then possibly a member of your family.

Should the mentally ill be allowed to live?

Let's just kill them all and they won't bother anyone anymore.

    Or maybe not...
