Ribena. The perfect drink to accompany a cheese burger after a night on the ale. Getting to the ground around 14:10pm, I used to look forward to eagerly biting into my cacky burger, allowing the effluence of the ketchup to dribble hastily down my chin. I'd swallow, allowing the soft texture of the cheese to pass the crusty bun down without any injury. Then, then, then it would be time. Time to allow the cool, purple liquid to quench my drying mouth and encapsulate my beer-flooded stomach. Allowing the zestiness from the berry flavoured drink to bring me to life, just before match time and relieve the nausea, that would be onset by the walking from the Metrodome down to the ground, and the beer swirling about inside me.

Saturday afternoons. Match day. Cheeseburger in one hand and Ribena in the other. Ahh...

One Saturday, I got into the ground, again, looking delightfully forward to my pre-match meal. I ordered my Cheeseburger, before scanning the fridges for my purple friend. No sign of him. Where the hell was he?

"Can I have a Ribena as well please"...

    "Yes"

The young girl behind the counter brought me Oasis, to my dismay.

"That's not Ribena. I asked for Ribena!"

    "We don't have any Ribena"

...And they haven't had any since.

Did they think people wouldn't notice? Did they? Well I did, and I want the Ribena back in the Ponty End by the next home game.

My life just hasn't been the same since!

My pre match meal at about the same time as you is a chicken balti and a lucozade. You should try lucozade orange poet nice with a fruity flavour just like your ribena.

No. Don't get me wrong, I loooove Lucozade.

But it's not in the same league as Ribena.
