Wouldn't work would it?

A red surround on a red shirt?

I just wish they'd bloody decide on what our badge is and stick with it instead of changing it every season

The present badge is outdated and shows a lack of insight by the club

Other local clubs have much better badges than Barnsley -
Leeds, Sheffield United and Wednesday have up to date logos that people can identify as soon as they see it

While we are still stuck in the 1950s or there abouts, which of course reveals the desperate need for a better marketing statergy at Barnsley.

And the frustrating thing about it is that the club has the bits and pieces in place that can be used to send a powerfull message out to the fans and potential fans - but the club just wont or cant do it.
For example - the name Tykes, which is synonymous with Yorkshire - so the clubs nick name can be changed to the Yorkshire Tykes.
This will give people living away from Barnsley in the rest of Yorkshire a link or association with the club

Additional to this - we have the Tykes name and the bulldog which could be used to good effect within a logo.
And I'm not talking about the camp Toby Tyke logo thats been used in the past.

What I would like to see is a round badge with Barnsley FC around the top, Yorkshire Tykes around the bottom and in the middle of the badge a fierce snarling head of a bulldog with a spiked coller.
Surely someone out there has the computer skills to create such a badge.

But then again, I've said all this before

Sorry but the bulldog is an embarrassment as a badge

Love Toby but looks like a cartoon character on a badge. Any changes to the Wednesday badge have only been slightly cosmetic and the Leeds fans I know hate their badge! When did Sheff Utd change theirs recently? Been the two Blades for as long as I can remember!

If you want a badge then there was nothing wrong with the well and oak

Theres nowt up with Toby Tyke the mascott in fact hes great
But the badge logo needs to be different to that - for example i wouldn't call Toby Tyke the mascott fierce

As for the Leeds and Sheffield logos, I've probably been watching football longer than you and remembver the old badges. If I remember right, the Sheff U badge was very similar to what the present Barnsley badge is now i.e. DULL

As for the 'well and oak logo', I think this is very 1980s and dosen't send a message out to the people of Barnsley and the rest of Yorkshire

We need a modern in your face logo that people throughout Yorkshire can identify with

I know the Leeds badge has changed ... they hate the new one

Sheff Utd one has been two blades for as long as I can remember and Wednesday the Owl with slight changes as worn by the likes of Terry Curran and Bob Bolder

And another consideration ...............how does the young football fan perceive the Barnsley logo

How does a young guy wanting a logo on a bag or a shirt percieve the Barnsley logo of two blokes stood holding a miners lamp and a glass blowing instrument

What research has been carried out to find out how a logo can SELL to the younger generation

In the case of Barnsley Football Club i would guess at - none

We are Old Old fashioned and the club needs kick starting to bring us up to date
