It wasn’t at all. One shot on target is not a decent performance. Their goal is not a decent performance. Six chances created is not a decent performance. Pathetic from everyone.
I would phrase it as we haven't been as poor in the last 2 games as we have in previous games this season.
If we’re taking league positions into account, we lost at home to 19th. Granted, played well against Bournemouth on Saturday. We were as bad last night as we have been most of the season.
Birmingham, Bournemouth, Cardiff. I think something is coming together. Football far better than last year and we look like we are building a good football team. The task of changing the style of play has been enormous. Totally disappointed with the smash and grab of Cardiff, a horrible side to play against. We are not down yet.
Compared to how we were playing at earlier this season, it was a decent performance. Compared to how we were playing a year ago, it was tragic.
A brand new formation 2 new players who have never played in team before, thought we moved it around ok ,we are not going to turn up and be Barcelona
It was a decent performance when compared to then crap of this season so far. The last 2 games we have clearly improved. Before the last 2 we had ‘abysmal’ performances and now they are just ‘poor’.
Watching it was frustrating. We were the better side and took the game to them but lacked that killer punch. Never looked like scoring which is a worry.
I agree about last night. One shot after three minutes straight at the keeper in the whole game cannot be called a decent performance. Our weak as piss CBs Andersen and Helik shouldn't be guaranteed starters all the time when they have forgot what a clean sheet is and we're terrible between them at dealing with one player for the goal.
It’s all relative. Did we look like we could win the game at any point? Not for me. The first half was so much better than the second but we didn’t create anything, we kept the ball fairly well at times (though still needlessly gave it away) but did nothing with it. Cardiff were awful, and we still couldn’t win.
We require more wins than we have all season just to get out of the relegation places. On course for 23 points for the season - that will go down too if Poya maintains his win percentage.
We passed it about a bit better than we have been, but apart from that it was a very poor performance. Despite Quina looking lively we failed to make any inroads on the Cardiff goal. To be honest I couldn’t really make out what we were trying to do attacking wise. We get to the final third then go backwards or make a long pass that went straight through to their keeper.
I wasn't there last night but, for the first time since October, we can make an argument that we were unlucky, it seems. It's still a pretty damning statistic to read though.
11 of our 18 league defeats have only been by one goal. That's unusual for a team cut so far adrift. It's frustrating that it wouldn't have taken much extra to turn things around results wise.
There are 5 teams in the league who've conceded more goals than us this season, and the closest of anyone on goals scored has scored 6 more. It's bizarre analysis to blame our defence for our poor performances. For contrast, the league leaders have only conceded 17 goals less than us, but scored 56 more.
