Bearing in mind who these players are, and that 3/4 will probably be coming in... yes.

    Who these players are?

We have never heard of most of them, it a big gamble which i hope comes good. Certainly need 3/4 more players including a quality striker.

    Current Squad:

    Nick Colgan (goalkeeper)
    Kyle Letheren (goalkeeper)

    Bobby Hassell (defender)
    Marciano Bruma (defender)
    Paul Reid (defender)
    Rob Atkinson (defender)
    Dominik Werling (defender)
    Rob Kozluk (defender)
Luke Potter & Rhys Meynell (youth defenders who may be used)

    Martin Devaney (midfielder)
    Rohan Ricketts (midfielder)
    Andy Johnson (midfielder)
    Sam Togwell (midfielder)
    Grant McCann (midfielder)
    Brian Howard (midfielder)
    Dwayne Mattis (midfielder)

    Istvan Ferenczi (striker)
    Miguel Mostto (striker)
    Kayode Odejayi (striker)
    Michael Coulson (striker)

I think we'll go in with those four strikers and maybe pick up a loan striker at some stage if things aren't working out.

Looking at that, I'm a lot more optimistic than I was at the start of last season - mainly because last season there were players that I was fairly sure WOULDN'T be good enough for the Championship - this season, its more of a situation where I'm unsure if a few of the players will be good enough or not. Think Ricketts is a very good acquisition. We're MUCH stronger in the fullback positions than we were at the start of last season, just through the addition of Kozluk, and by the sounds of it, Werling looks a very good prospect for us. Upfront, I'd choose the four we've got now over the four we had at the start of last season - as Richards and Wright were never going to be good enough, however hard they worked.

Add Muller, Nyatanga and Foster (they're the three I expect in the most) and things will look, in my opinion, a lot stronger than at the start of last season. Theres only Kay and McIndoe from the start of last season that I would consider being important losses, and to a lesser extent, Hayes for his versatility and Nardiello for his finishing when he could be bothered.

    RE: Who these players are?

    Three more for me.
Goalkeeper - 1 Possibly Heinz Muller
Centre Half - 1 Possibly Nyatanga
    Striker - 1 ??????????????????????

If Ferenczi, Odejayi, Mostto and possibly Coulson hit the ground running then maybe no strikers and 2 centre halfs.

    Comparison of starting XI's

Obviously with a few unknown quantities, as it stands, my strongest starting XI would be:

    Colgan

    Kozluk, Hassell, Reid, Werling

    Devaney, Howard, Johnson/Togwell, Ricketts

    Ferenczi, Mostto

There are unknown quantities amongst that, but I feel, particularly in the full back area which was a huge weakness last season, its a stronger side. If you add a new, commanding goalkeeper, and then, as an example, Nyatanga and Foster, its a side I would be a lot more optimistic about.

    Muller

    Kozluk, Foster, Nyatanga, Werling

    Devaney, Howard, Johnson/Togwell, Ricketts

    Ferenczi, Mostto

    Bench

    Colgan

Hassell/Reid (obviously, I haven't seen players play - I'm not leaving Hassell out because he's poor, just an example of squad depth)

    McCann

    Togwell/Johnson

    Odejayi

---- To me, thats a much more promising squad than on the opening day of last season, particularly in terms of depth.

If we get the 4 more new players in the positions Davey has said then i think we will be stronger.

The striker situation is an unknown quantity at the moment:

Mossto, (When he arrives!) His pedigree and record look pretty impressive main thing is he settles in well. Fingers crossed he could be that 20 goal a season striker we need.

Odejayi, Stepping up 2 divisions but said to have a lot of potential.

Ferenczi, Hopefully the kind of form he had in his first couple of months with the club.

Striker 4???, Be nice to see us sign another quality striker, if we do and get at least 1 quality CH, i fancy us to have a decent season.

I was referring more to those who've left...

    Hecky, Tonge, Richards etc...

Did a job but not good enough for this division.
