Seems to be the buzz phrase at the moment. I've read it in loads of posts. I've never met the man, so I've no idea if this is true or not ( although he doesn't strike me as particularly arrogant in his interviews), but I certainly can't infer this character trait from his team selections. Simon Davey's idea of what our strongest team is differs greatly from mine, but the fact that he thinks Bobby Hassell is our best option in midfield doesn't, in my opinion, equal arrogance. If my fears are realised and we struggle this season then my opinion will be that he's not a particularly good manager, but that's a long way from arrogance.

    RE: "Simon Davey is Stubborn"

Refuses to play his exiled players even when the good of the team is at stake and plays certain players even when they don't deserve a shirt in a bid to prove he was right all along.

agree with u there. i dont think hes arrogant but strong minded and stubborn. as for being a poor manager, hes only had 1 full season as a manager we'l see what happens this season and where we end up with no cup distractions(probably)

    You're making assumptions

It's far more likely he picks the players he does because he thinks they're the better players.

The dictionary defines arrogance as an adjective - exaggerating your importance or abilities. I'm a little unsure how some, including myself, can describe Davey as being
arrogant but, I choose to lable him arrogant because he gives the impression that he knows best inpite of 5/4 thousand other managers on the oakwell terraces
saying that he is wrong. I do feel however, that" exaggerating his abilities " might arguable go in favour of the masses.

He is arrogant and disliked by many at the club, choose to believe this or not, but it comes from someone within the club.

No I wont reveal sources, so dont bother to ask.

I don't think it's his mistakes that people think indicate arrogance.

Rather his unwillingness to accept that he's capable of making them.

Shame he can't see that Hassel is crap in midfield and that we need a left back and a centre half with pace tho.

Had a quick chat with him once...

... seemed a nice bloke and a bit nervous although it was around the time of the Leicester match 2007 so he probably had need to be.

He's young and has to separate himself from players who are not that much younger than him. I think that is why his public persona is somewhat arrogant or aloof.

Ritchie was the players mate but was accused by some of being too close to them.

    Can't win either way.

I have no idea whether Davey will make it as a manager, all I do know is that if we don't give an extended chance then we'll not find out and we'll be back to the revolving door method.

He'll have been in the job for two years in November and provided we are not anchored to the bottom of the table and in disarray I'd like to see him given the chance to build on what he has. We've gone the revolving door route and look where that got us.

I found him anything but arrogant when I spoke to him a while back.

As for "He is arrogant and disliked by many at the club, choose to believe this or not, but it comes from someone within the club.

No I wont reveal sources, so dont bother to ask."

Might as well say "Brian Howard has a magic chicken, choose to believe this or not, but it comes from someone within the club.

No I wont reveal sources, so dont bother to ask."

Don't bother to post crap if you're not prepared to back it up.

I've always thought he comes across as rather nervous

Never more so than in the plethora of interviews around the time of the victories over Liverpool and Chelsea. Although I would add that you don't see people as they really are when a TV camera is stuck in their face. I'm sure I'd be very nervous had I to do TV interviews.

What would you have him do? Name his informant which would probably result in them losing their job. Are you in a position to offer them a job with equal pay and possibilities. I'm not saying that the statement is true but what I am saying is that it is not beyond the bounds of possibility and shouldn't be dismissed just because names are not named.
