    I Heard A Little Rumour........

from the same person that passed on Ridsdale was going to be our chairman, that Danny Wilson and Neil Redfearn are in contention to be our management team in the summer. Wilson as some sort of getout clause and our board of directors (although appreciate Simon keeping us up) realise too many fans are against the guy and that season ticket sales will suffer with him at the helm.

and what do you base that upon ?

    What is that based upon

Before the season started we all wanted to avoid relegation and therefore a success.

    Replace him with who?

No doubt Sven and Sam would throw their hats into the ring should they miss out on Premiership management

Has it escaped you that BFC are trying to run a Championship campaign on League 1 finances and support?

Unless the club can generate some significant cash flow then there is going to be little money to improve players or anything else

Davey & the Board are doing a great job with a limited budget - I didn't see a long line of Barnsley based entrepreneurs queueing to buy the Club from Doyle so unless we're all missing something its going to be more of the same

Lets give Davey a chance to work with the team and get some new blood in to gell with the best of what we've got

Maybe the fact that doesn't appear to have any more tactical nouse than Ritchie did and he doesn't seem able to influence the players and their performances on a consistent basis. Also his man management skills appear to be at a bad School Prefect level. If by some miracle we were able to sign better and more experienced players for next season, I doubt that he would be able to handle them.

    Again, the million dollar question...

The only reason Davey is in charge (no disrespect to him or his achievement's intended) is because there was hardly a queue of applicants to replace Ritchie. None, that is, whose financial demands were acceptable to the board.

Nine managers in eight seasons they said on Sky today - I didn't want Ritchie sacked and I certainly thought (and still think) Davey was appointed for the wrong reasons but he's here, he's kept us up and we should get behind him and look towards some managerial stability for once...

I am a big andy ritchie fan, but it doesn't mean I am anti Davey. He kept us up, job done. But with a full close season, and the board now with an additional season of championship money there will be no hiding place for either the manager and the board.</p>

The only way we can look towards some managerial stability, is if the board get realistic and put up the money for a good manager.

    My point is, mate...

Is that I think it's the fans that need to get realistic and accept that that isn't going to happen...

Then neither is managerial or any other kind of stability.

Based on performances since he took over.

If we are looking to move to the next level i dont consider Simon is that man, maybe you do.

    We finished fifth from bottom...

One place up from where we hoped and five places up from what would not have being the most unrealistic possibility. This position was achieved on a limited budget and the club's finances remain on a even keel. We have, technically, overachieved this season and people are talking about sacking yet another manager?

And what if the next manager struggles? And the one we replace him with six months into next season? And the one after that? Meanwhile we have players who aren't wanted by the new manager drawing a wage for warming the reserve team bench a la Spackman / Parkin / Thordason / Hart and new players coming in who, in six months time, will be surplus to requirements when that revolving door spins again.

Davey has done the job he was brought in to do and, IMHO, done it well despite the initial misgivings of most (including myself) there is no reason whatsoever, realistically, financially or morally, to get shut...
