Simon Davey - up and coming young manager

This isn't a dig, but a lot of people in the game say this about Davey. What is it based on? I mean he's done ok, but nothing spectacular. Why the hype?

he kept us up when we looked doomed, then built basically a new squad on a limited budget and kept us up again and got us to wembley. Not bad for his first job in management.

Yes, you can't put everything on those two results, but not many Championship managers will mastermind wins over those two in the same season.

I wasn't a fan of him at first but he's done a good job. He kept us up with a poor squad and if it wasn't for the cup distraction last season and the loss of Anderson etc, I think we would have finished mid-table.

Give him more of a chance. If we're struggling at Christmas, we should have a rethink. He's now had chance to put together his own squad, he's been given the option to spend money - lets see how it goes.

 

He has had longer than most managers at this club

and he still cant see the weaknesses .

 

Limited in comparison with the majority in the division

And I think the millions mark is a little exaggerated. As people have said, a lot of the transfer fees are based on clauses and we won't pay anywhere near the reported figures.

millions on who? he wasted a bit of money on some misfiring strikers, but not millions.

 

What are the weaknesses?

Goalkeeper - very strong now
Full backs - very good
Central midfield - fantastic

And thats just the major improvements since he took over. He knows we need a proven striker, hence the attempt to sign Phillips.

 

Reported 1.3m, I doubt the fees paid amount to that either
