Davey have brought in some good players. Maybe he should be a scout instead of a manager?

Patrick Cryne has emphasised the fact that Simon Davey travelled extensively to watch the players he signed.
He then got them on trial at close quarters and signed then according to whatever standards he was looking for.

How can anyone argue with that?
Scouts and agents have both recommended players and then they have arrived at Oakwell and they have been successful or not, as the case may be.

well... when he says that he wants to move to a bigger and better club, it looks like to me that he doesn´t seem that he have any ambition with Barnsley FC. Like he don´t really care.

For the last time tonight, before I go bloody crazy

Simon Davey never said anything of the sort!

Patrcick Cryne said that both he and Gordon Shepherd knew that Simon Davey was highly qualified and highly ambitious, both he and Shepherd approved of such ambition and then he went on to say that he felt Simon Davey would eventually like to manage a bigger and more successful club one day. iI such a club came in for him, then they felt that they would be unable to stand in his way.

Simon Davey wasn't at the meeting last night so did not say the things you are all accusing him of saying

SImon Davey has re-iterated more than once how proud he is to manage Barnsley FC.

He stated this in front of the harshest critics he will ever encounter - the Barnsley FC Supporters and also said that he and his backroom staff would work tirelessly for BFC.

I believe him and have seen nothing to swerve me from that belief.

For God's sake, get a grip,

    Ok. relax woman..
If Patrick Cryne and Gordon Sheperd says that, it seems like they just want the club just be a stepping stone for talented players to get to clubs in the Premier League, and not have the ambition that one day Barnsley bigger and better club.

I can see where he is coming from tho`

It does seem like that Cryne is saying that its Ok for Davey to use Barnsley as a step up, to bigger and better things, why cant he make us those bigger and better things.
but then again its **** all to do with me.

RE: I can see where he is coming from tho`

It might seem like that reading the snippet in the paper but that's taking what was said out of context. As Tina says"the statement was at the tail end of him telling us how hard working Simon Davey was. He told us that Davey is extremely good at his job, had travelled extensively to watch players and had paid for these trips out of his own pocket and not charged the club. They admired his workrate and commitment, his discipline and the manner in which the players have adapted to his methods of doing things. He then went on to say that Simon was very ambitious and that one day he would want to manage a bigger and more successful club than Barnsley FC."

He did actually go on to say that it would be up to them to make Barnsley the more attractive proposition. (words to that effect anyway).

It's all a bit daft though because we are talking about a hypothetical situation. We've made a decent start to the season but that's all. If he can deliver success to the club at the end of the season then maybe other clubs take an interest.

Would we want a manager without ambition? Would you hire someone for a job if they weren't ambitious?
