POST MATCH REACTION FROM THE RICOH ARENA Posted on: Tue 21 Apr 2009 REDS boss Simon Davey gave his thoughts after a shocking late penalty robbed his side of all three points at the Ricoh Arena. Simon said: "Football is a very cruel game. We deserved all three points from that tonight. "I have not seen the penalty again so I cannot comment really on the replay. The referee has not given it and he was standing right in front of it but yet again we have had a busy linesman. "I know I have a player in the dressing room with a red mark on his ribs from where the ball hit him and he is adamant it did not strike his hand. If it did it was certainly not intentional. "That is what happens when you are up against it and fighting for your lives. When you are fighting for points those decisions go like that. "We have to fight on and not let what happened here effect us. We have to go and get ready for Saturday. "It could be a costly decision but we have two matches left to put it right. "It was a good performance. We were dogged and we passed the ball well. We deserved the three points. "I will be having a chat with the referee and will ask him why he chose to give that decision especially after he had made a different one. "We all did our jobs. That's all we can ask of them and every point matters. It will be a bit up and down through to the end of the season but I did not see that coming".
"I will be having a chat with the referee and will ask him why he chose to give that decision especially after he had made a different one." What's the point - he is just going to say that he didn't see it properly and his linesman did. "but I did not see that coming" You're the only one then - something like that is coming every game with us. We are incapable of defending a lead.
More Excuses From The Manager Yes it wasn't a penalty, but lets not kid ourselves that the penalty decision was the only one that cost us in the match.
what a clown he cant comment on the penalty but then spends the entire thing talking about it. Apparently he didnt see it so cant make a judgement but kozluk has a red mark where it hit his ribs, oh but if it didnt his his ribs then it must have accidentally hit his arm. Chances of there being no red mark? 75%.
He's spot on though
100% deserved the win.
Lost count of the amount of Coventry fans saying 'Barnsley definitely deserved to win tonight'.
And the penalty?! **** me. Ref ten yards away gives a corner, linesman who couldn't see gives a penalty. ******

But the linesman that couldn't see DID see unless he took a lucky guess that kozluk stuck his arm up and it hit it. It was a lucky guess though because it hits it on the TV replays knocking his arm back in the process.
Add that one to the list then... Played Derby off the park. Should have won at Watford. Should've beaten Forest. Should've won at Coventry. Should've, should've, should've. That's why we're in the ****. Not clinical enough, don't create enough chances, don't score enough goals. JCR has missed two big penalties. Muller has gifted goals away of late. We don't know how to close down the last ten minutes and shut up shop (how many late late goals have we conceded?). It all adds up. Three wins this year. I think Simon Davey has absolutely mastered the art of getting relegated whilst somehow claiming we don't deserve it and it's not his fault. We were lucky to stay up last year, and this season has been a sickening joke. The league table does not lie - no matter what Davey says. I for one was waiting for that last minute equaliser - with that horrible sick feeling in my stomach - 'let's just get this crushing disappointment over with'. A fifteen hour shift at work culminating in that. I am beside myself. I really am. My only hope is that Patrick Cryne get's a really good man in to replace Davey, and backs him with sufficient money to repair the damage of this season with a relatively quick return to the Championship.
