I’m in agreement that we need a few old heads around, to be a voice in the dressing room, to help develop the more inexperienced players and more importantly add some leadership on the pitch. Something I don’t think we ever had this season IMO. Folk say about no resale value yada, yada yada, but a short term deal would definitely add value. I think of the money we’ve spent out on players recently including wages and what resale value have we recouped? Yes there has been the obvious Anderson’s, Pinnock, Kitching etc, but for everyone of those, there’s half a dozen who just walk away free at the end of a quite long contract. Didn’t we fork out £1m + for Kane? Certainly no resale value there then is there. I expect Watters will be another, the Belgium lads and more than likely a host of others who we’ve paid a fee for and their wages on top. Think most lines of work depend on some level of experience, just don’t get why we seem to overlook it because it won’t be a saleable asset.
We're crying out for a leader or two to help the other lads grow. We all saw first hand how much Mads developed playing alongside Sollbauer. That development alongside Sollbauer added millions to Andersen's price tag.
I’d add to that about having that person helping with the fringe/non first teamers so when they have to step up they are better prepared.
Yeh, would be a good signing for anybody to be honest in our league and even a good squad addition to a good amount of Champ sides. A very good goalkeeper. Think he was linked with Bristol City in Jan as second choice keeper. Surely he’d rather drop a league and be first choice somewhere at that age.
