REDS boss Simon Davey gave his thoughts ahead of tomorrow's clash with Preston. He said: "We have a fully fit squad apart from Neil Austin, who has a groin problem and is unavailable. Adam Eckersley and Dwayne Mattis will be in the squad. "It is always difficult when you bring new players into a settled group and you have to decide whether it is right to throw the straight in but we will decide overnight. "Dwayne is a very good footballer and is probably the best midfielder in League Two and is more than capable of making the step up. It is not a gamble at all to sign Dwayne because he is a good player. "We are still looking to get players in and there are always loads of hurdles from when you first enquire about them. Sometimes they are happy where they are; they do not want to come out of that area; they have a family settled in school; sometimes you are told that the club would like one of our players in exchange who we are not prepared to let go and sometimes the money is not right. "There are many hurdles to get over and it is not as simple as making a call, having a bid accepted and the player being unveiled here. It is far from that and we have had a long two weeks and that will continue. Hopefully we will have everybody in by the end of the month. "We have been let down and spent a lot of time on one deal at the start of the week. We were let down in the early hours of the morning but that's football and we will move onto other targets". He added: "We are looking at many players in all positions from every division. Leon Constantine is one that we have had watched but that is as far as that has gone. He is one of many strikers we are looking at. "We want healthy competition in the squad and this club has not really had that this season. We want to bring more intensity into the squad and I want everybody looking over their shoulders. "We have had a few enquiries for some of our fringe players but nothing major with anyone else. Some teams want players in exchange and I will not let my best players go. There is nothing like that that has tickled my fancy yet. "I spent eleven years at Preston and it is a game I am looking forward to. It is great ambition and I am proud to do that. I still live in the area and know a lot of the staff. I played with some of the lads there but all that goes out of the window tomorrow. "Paul Simpson has done a fantastic job this season. Preston have been in the play offs two out of the last three years and he has the team playing. They are hard to beat and will have every chance of making the Premiership this year".
I wonder who this is? "We have been let down and spent a lot of time on one deal at the start of the week. We were let down in the early hours of the morning but that's football and we will move onto other targets". Constantine?
