REDS manager Simon Davey gave his thoughts following last night's outstanding victory over Hull City at Oakwell.
Speaking exclusively to www.barnsleyfc.co.uk, Simon said: "Looking back I think last night's game was the best performance since I have been in the job. It was an excellent display and we really took on the good things we did at Southampton but got our rewards in the end.
"We scored goals again but managed to keep a clean sheet at the other end. It was the best display I have seen under my management.
"I always knew that Istvan (Ferenczi) and Peter (Rajczi) were capable of finishing and they proved that to everybody last night. What really impressed me more than that was their work rate from the very first whistle. The two Hungarians have a great 'never say die' attitude out there and their work rate and application is an example to every player. They have shown that if you work hard then you will get rewards. I knew they could finish but last night they proved it to everybody and became real fans favourites. I think Barnsley supporters take to players when they see that work rate and commitment to the cause. The two lads showed that and deserved their standing ovations.

"The two Hungarians have a great 'never say die' attitude out there and they work rate and application is an example to every player"

"Foreign players are brought up with good habits and they proved last night that an outstanding work ethic is one of those. They are fantastic in training and the rest of the lads have responded well to that and really taken to them.
"People have to remember as well that they are coming to us on the back of a month's rest. The last few matches have been their first real games in something approaching three months so I would have expected them to take a fortnight or so to really settle in. Everybody expects them to just hit the ground running but I know that they will get better and better with more training and more games. Last night proved that they can become real fans favourites here at Barnsley.
"Nick Colgan was forced out of the action last night with a calf problem. He was getting shooting pains through his calf and into his knee whenever he put his foot down to kick the ball. We do not think it is anything really serious but Nick made the decision that he did not want to let everybody down by trying to play through it. David Lucas came into the side at half time and did really well for us".

RE: I think Barnsley supporters take to players when they see that work rate and commitment to the c Spot on with those comments...... It is something that's not been clear for quite a few home games now. Last night set an example, it is important that they carry that forward.
If we do get relegated BUT battle like we did last night and show the fight & commitment then I will be a happier man.
