He is in hospital at the moment and it looks as though he has dislocated his elbow. He just fell awkwardly. He would have played at QPR and we are gutted for him because he has worked so hard this summer to earn a place in the team. If he has dislocated his elbow then you are looking at ten days if they can pop it back in. If it is broken then it could be two months.
"We are still waiting for international clearance for Hugo Colace and Miguel Mostto and we are working tirelessly to get that done before the weekend. I do not think Hugo would have started because of his hamstring problem but Miguel could have been on the bench.
"We are working with the FA at the moment to get it sorted. We had the same problems last season with Heinz (Muller) and are in the same situation. Someone should be answerable for these things.
"We are ready. It is great to have Brian Howard, Martin Devaney and Iain Hume in the squad after their recent injury problems. We also have Heinz and Anderson de Silva on the training pitch and they are not too far away. All the little niggles which have hampered our team selections and results in pre-season have gone now and we have a stronger squad who are all fighting for a place in the team.
"We could have someone in to add to that today. We were talking with a Premier League club to get a striker in last week and it fell away on Friday. There is a good possibility that it could be revived today and we are just waiting on an answer. A lot of clubs are reluctant to let players to at the moment but we will keep asking and keep knocking on those doors.
"It is not Kevin Kyle. I have never spoken to him or to anyone about him.
"Sam (Togwell) looks like he will go to Yeovil. He is due to have talks with them but it all hinges on one of their players moving out. If that deal happens then I would expect Sam to move to Yeovil later this week".
Simon added: "We will still be an attacking team this season. We have to be when you have the likes of Jon Macken, Iain, Jamal, Brian and Martin Devaney in your squad. We will try to be more resolute, tougher and nastier away from home to pick up more points on the road. That is where we have to improve from last season.
"We have to try and get more points on the road. We have to be more resolute and a little more of a no nonsense team away from Oakwell. We have to get a mentality about just getting a result and while personnel and systems may change on our travels, that mentality and determination will not.
"We want year on year improvement. We have to improve and we will see where that will take us. We have improved our squad by bringing in some new players and letting go the ones who would not have played much football.
"We are looking at each month at a time and we know that we have some tough matches in a very unpredictable league. We lost 4-1 on the opening day last season and then got ourselves up to fourth within ten weeks. We will prepare right and look to be better on the road. We will go out to win every game.
"We are going to QPR on Saturday under no pressure whatsoever. I know that as a manager I will live and die by results and I feel under no more pressure than at any other time here. QPR are the richest club in the world and are amongst the favourites to go up. It is up to them to prove that against us".

lets hope we have a striker in by today, as it looks like we will only have kayode on bench saturday as miguel n hugo haven't got clearance to play yet. just when this are lookin good with all players getting to fitness cambell-ryce dislocates his elbow, would only ever happen to barnsley. shouldn't be long now till anderson and muller are back, would have thought they will be involved in some reserve games this month before back in team late aug/early sept. anyone have any idea who the player is and which club we are trying for?
