Simon Whaley - "Flying Winger" - Arrives from Preston

Discussion in 'Bulletin Board ARCHIVE' started by Gloucester_Red, Nov 7, 2008.

  1. How come he is good enough for us but not for Preston then? He might have some personal issues I suppose that means he needs to move on. Let's hope he is better than "Scottish International" Gary Teale who was pretty much a waste of wages when he came in earlier on.

Good luck Simon and here's to seeing you rip their full backs to shreds tomorrow with your pace and devastating crossing (hopefully!)

Lets hope so. I was pretty impressed with the two wingers at the Valley last week though. Devaney and JCR are always threatening. Will he possibly replace Devaney??

Just spoke to a Preston season ticket holder who I worked with, gutted he's gone. Say's one of the better players and should be in the team. Like the website states, was wanted by quite a few premiership clubs last year.

  5. IF he gets in the starting eleven, must be at the expense of Devaney

Surely? I like Devaney but he does disappear a bit too much to be really effective. When he is good he is REALLY good, but we don't see it often enough. I suspect Whaley will be on the bench though but it would be silly bringing a loan player in to keep Miguel company wouldn't it?

A guy asked about him on their rivals board.

Described as their best player but they are playing hoofball not football now.

He scored 1 in 3 apps before they signed big Jon Parkin!

    I remember that.

He tore Hecky apart if memory serves me right.
That was Vito Mannones debut as well I think.

Excuse my ignorance - the crucial question...

But is he a LEFT winger? If so, I'm more than happy to have him.

    Great signing imo

Quite a few games coming up and at the moment, the wide positions pick themselves. Devaney hasn't been playing well but I think he'll start tomorrow, at least knowing that someone half decent can take his place if he doesn't get going.

The website NEVER says which side of midfield the likes of Teale and Whaley play - same with defenders. It's really annoying and yet a pretty crucial bit of information. Are we supposed to guess?

Must be Devaney out for me.

I think that knowing that he has Whaley sat on the bench just waiting to take his place will push Daveney to a great performance tomorrow...
Thats what we need to keep the good form going, competition for places......
Still would like us to get some back up for Colace and De Silva just in case of injury or suspensions.....
