Difficult his first match but showed a lot of good moves. Notice he has good control and not afraid to shoot. Will improve with a couple more games (Y) (Y) (Y)

    Yes, played well.

Tough game to be thrown into, but I thought he did well against Naughton who was class.

Showed some good touches, was not afraid to shoot and got an assist. Well played.

I was just going on their performances today

Devaney and Campbell-Ryce were far superior.

No where near the standards of Devaney

Who, again, had a fantastic game today? Was he man of the match? Didn't hear.

    Jay!

    What the hell?

For all his efforts today, and his dubious man of the match award - Devaney fell apart time after time when getting within 18 yards of the goals. His end product at times is among the worst I've ever seen in a Barnsley shirt. He is so wasteful it's untrue. His build up play is brilliant; he runs and dribbles and runs some more - but when he gets to the 18 yard box, he just falls apart. Sometimes, on rare, rare occasions, he actually delivers, either with a good cross or with a scintillating goal - of late, he just hasn't been delivering. Today, Whaley created a goal, as well as giving 100% to the cause. That for me, IS a patch on our current wingers.

JCR was playing a strange role today, so he can be cut out of this debate (when he does play the wing, he's one of the best in the league).

Whaley was impressive today, and his ability gave us a lifeline near the end.

    Nuff' said.

Wait there, if we wanna talk about wingers who fall apart in the final third and have no end product, lets bring Campbell Ryce to the fore.

And what did he actually do? Yeah, ran and ran and ran then once again, crumbled when he caught a glimpse of goal. Man of the match? Don't make me laugh. JCR or Colace by a mile.

I will give Devaney some credit - his work rate is fantastic. But then so are a number of other players. Devaney's proble m is that he's too inconsistent, and his end product is far, far too rare.

    RE: Jay!

JCR was playing a reserved, free role today. The only time he was anywhere near the wings, was when he was tracking players, so don't even try that one.

JCR's team play was superb today - his job was to hurry the opposition in the middle of the park, and try to get things going once De Silva was stupidly sent off. Like I said, Devaneys work rate is top notch - but his final ball at times is awful.

He's only here for a month. I thought he was our 'worst' player today. When i say worst.... they all played well... but i got the impression he either wasn't fit, or didn't appreciate the fact it was a local derby.

    He was neat and tidy

But he wasn't causing their defence anywhere near the problems Devaney was. I don't think I've ever seen a winger so reluctant to take on his marker before.

RE: No where near the standards of Devaney

Ok. He beat Sun JiHai a few times? Did he pick players out with his crosses? Hmmm, no. Did he have any shots on target, or remotely near the goal, hmmm, no. What's your point? He ran and ran, and beat a few players - WHAT DID HE ACTUALLY DO WHEN HE GOT NEAR THE GOAL? I WILL TELL YOU; THE SAME THING HE DOES JUST ABOUT EVERYTIME - FALL APART LIKE A JIGSAW PUZZLE.

At times, he can pull a rabbit out of the hat and actually deliver. I'd say, around 1 in 10. He just isn't consistent enough to be playing week in, week out. I'm sorry if you feel differently, but it's the truth.

Where have I mentioned his role today? And I really rate JCR. But, it winds me up so much when people, who havent got a fecking clue, like offspring, criticise Devaney in anyway shape or form. He tries more than any other player I can remember in a barnsley shirt, isn't always in the team, yet doesn't sulk, just gets on with it and every nour n then, produces some fecking breathtaking play. And lets face it, he's certainly our best crosser of the ball, so lay of that one sonshine. Admittedly Fosters alreyt too.........
