What progress have we made ? What's the plan ?

Have we really altered our m.o since the departure of Mark Robins ?

Dunno, but perhaps the money gifted to Simon Davey's, Mark Robins' and Keith Hills' loan signings and redundancy packages could have been used to tie better quality players to longer contracts and give us some stability.

Anyway, not been to Port vale for a while, happy days.

I don't think that the legal issue in the background with Uncle Pat was helpful and came at the wrong time which meant we had to be more short termist.

I've never been a fan of that approach in any walk of life, however maybe just maybe it might do us good to start again, and if that reset means a relegation, then so be it. I'd hate for us to be relegated, but you never know it might do us good, start afresh and build a plan thats going to make us stable and grow the club. I feel we've lost our soul and direction over the last 10 years and I believe with Danny in charge, we might have a chance to kickstart the club again, although it might have to be in the division below. Treading water in this division isnt helping to be fair, and I don't think it helps the board to feel positive about what our long term objectives are, when they can't see passed stopping up.

I agree with you. Unless Mansford & Watkins have a decent amount of autonomy can you see a long term plan being put in place ?

I think we also need an injection of cash, from somewhere. We've probably squandered a fair bit of money this year on signings alone. I'd imagine the Stones money has gone on 33 Midfielders.

No because unlike other teams who have got promoted after us we clearly have no idea how to progress to the next level.

Look at the debt those clubs have though. I really wish this FFP would actually work and see clubs given 20 points deductions for overspending - just need an FA with balls first though

We did have a change initially under Keith I think, that's why I gave him so much support. The problem was he didn't help himself and I don't think he got the necessary backing from above either (and I'm not talking spending money).

Then this Summer it all went to ****. Talk of new era, signing any player we possibly could, wasting the money we'd earned last year, f.cking about with pictures of Scott Golbourne & renaming a gym. The biggest waste of a season we've possibly ever had.

Go down. Start again. Danny given 3 years to sort us out from the ground up.

I'll be amazed if DW is here next season.

If we go down I wouldn't keep Wilson.

Whether he had the time to save us or not, I have seen nothing to say we are any better than before. Players out of positions, poor signings, lack of fight are not things I would ever align with Danny but all the old failings are still there. Fresh broom next season for me.

But you are aligning Danny to that by saying you've seen nothing from him.

We'd won twice at home under Flitcroft in 4 months. We've won 3 in 6 weeks under Danny. That's a pretty big improvement in my head, mate.

Another season, then he can be jettisoned, as per.

Lack of leadership trickles down I'm afraid.

If that's how we've set him on then I despair.

Unfortunately, modern day football doesn't work like that. Those who didn't want Wilson in the first place, and weren't prepared to give him the chance to sort the club out, will demand him being sacked irrespective of whether we survive or not. They didn't get what they wanted, so they immediately complain and will continue to do so until they get their way. The Violet Elizabeth Bott syndrome. Also, nowadays a manager isn't allowed the luxury of a three year period to re establish & reorganise a club. At the first hint of a less than impressive run, the 'right here, right now' brigade will demand a change. Everything has to have an immediate and obvious improvement, so it seems, otherwise it's construed as failure. Patience is no longer wanted or tolerated.
I agree with you and your sentiments, mate, but I don't think it'll happen.

Completely Kev, that's when we need strong leadership from the top to resist the understandable frustration of supporters when we go on a bad run.

I seem to remember you wanting Flitcroft replaced, would you have agreed if we had stuck by him for three years? We all would support giving a manager time but if we had not replaced Spackman, Hill Flitcroft ect I dread to think where we would be now.
