only had 1 english player in the 16 today (pennant).

no bloody wonder the national team is so /poo when teams dont even have englishmen in their matchday squad.

surely now is the time to get some kind of quota in place where teams have to have a minimum of ENGLISHMEN in the matchday squad.

    It's Fine As It Is

Our national team is talented just not motivated enough. Putting a quoter on the amount of English guys who can play would mean talented foreigners would be offloaded to give guys a chance who aren't as good. If the English kids are good enough they will get a chance.

I noticed that Arsenal didnt have a single man named in yesterdays squad. One of the 'top 4' teams of England and they dont have a quality englishman. Its wrong and needs to be adressed. It may be bad for Arsenal if Wenger goes, but maybe for the national team, a new manager could use those facilities etc to help young english players prosper.

wooh, 3 englishmen out of 16, thats a lot. Should be forced to have min. 5 englishmen in the STARTING LINEUP with 2 more on bench.

Of the starting 11 today there was only Mascherano who doesn't come from an EU country, therefore there is nothing anybody can do about it anyway. They have every right to be playing due to the european treaty. The FA/PL can't bypass these laws and bring in a rule to stop the european players.

Shouldn't players get picked on ability and not nationality for their club sides? If the English players are good enough, they will get picked. If inexperienced English kids are going for silly money or rated at silly prices (Bale, Curtis etc), do you blame managers for picking up bargains from abroad?

Are you sure? Thought it had been ruled as illegal by the European court about 5 years ago.

kozluk, foster and howard. not sure if we're counting odejayi though because the club alway bang on about him being nigerian born, which to me makes him nigerian.

so 3 is the answer, and 4 if u count that plank who come off the bench.

way too many foreigners at the club in my opinion. one or two is fine but having shitloads is uncalled for.

And does it really matter where somebody is born? As long as they can speak English, which they all can except Mostto. It seems to work for Liverpool and Arsenal. Are we just looking for excuses?
