I sit in the Ponty End, on the far left as you look at the stand from the pitch, where the main singing contingent stand. I was wondering if anyone sits in the East Stand right near the away fans?

Basically I'm wondering if the singing, from the Ponty End, sounds loud from the away end? It certainly sounds loud from my point if view.

Until this season, we have always been in the East, but near the away end. Hardly ever heard a whisper from the Ponty.

This season, I'm at the Ponty End of the East, and we've all remarked how much better the atmosphere is. Fact remains though, that the away fans always say that we never sing, even when we do.

Conclusion, the acoustics in the home ends are shocking.

its more to do with the fact that its a relatively small group that sings in the ponty, most of the stand sits quiet,.......unless we play leeds.

Mixture of acoustics, ground layout and atmosphere generated. Only about 200 fans seem to regularly sing. Maybe up to 500-800 for big games. So the noise is limited. The away fans are usually at the exact opposite of the ground, corner to corner, and so its not surprising that neither end can hear the other. Take today, there were a few songs aimed at Leeds, but it was obvious they couldn't hear them until the small group in the East Stand carried them over. Leeds were clearly responding but it was barely audible. Oakwell isn't ideal for banter between fans. Only when the Ponty is in full voice can it be heard from the away end and vice versa. As mentioned above, loads of away teams comment on the lack of atmosphere, whilst although I can often see the away fans singing, seldom am I impressed with the noise levels from the Ponty where I often sit.

We could stick some mics in the Ponty and blast it out of speakers in the away end.

I've always wondered this as well.

It's a shame that we're so far away from the away fans, you need that banter to create an atmosphere.

Good support today though, was good to see more fans in Ponty joining in too

Not really sure whether this is related but, mate of mine has come to Oakwell as an away fan a few times, and says that away fans find it a quiet ground, and they feel that the ponty looks small anyway from the away end.

I was actually wondering today if the ponte end can hear the away fans.

I sit in the far end of the east near the away fans and the ponte can hardly be heard, my son has commented about it too.

Funny as **** late in the second half today in east stand upper. fat barnsley fan took off his shirt and flexed his non existant muscles to the leeds fans. For a few minutes they were actually lost for words before singing u fat *******

I'm going to go into supertyke mode here, isn't that the reason tango man is banned from Oakwell?
