I know the subject has been broached on the BBS before, but this truly wonderful, outstanding gentleman is to receive the Czech Republic's highest state honour for his actions during World War II. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-29798434 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZIiBTP0spEA
A truly unbelievable man and achievement. 105 and still going strong too! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZIiBTP0spEA The youtube video above is from an episode of That's Life in 1988. Some of the children he saved at the time are, unknown to him, in the audience around him. Brings a tear to my eye every time I watch it.
Great news With all the bad things going off in the world its great to see someone being honoured for doing good
I read about him recently and to say he deserves this honour is an understatement. A genuine hero to a lot of people.
Not mentioning it to anyone for 50 years is a mark of the man too. Doesn't want recognition for it, just the right thing to do.
