Thoughts and suggestions on how we get this man a knighthood? I think for everything he has done for the club and the community he should receive this honour.

    Unfortunately, that's probably correct.
Anyway, he's our hero, and not for public consumption outside our circle of support, so can't we just label him a 'Barnsley Sir'?
That's a higher accolade than just any old 'sir'. Mo Farrah and Andy Murray will be green with envy.

Lots of people receive these honours for nothing more than who they know (or fund), cronyism or just doing their very well paid job.

Some get an honour and actually deserve it and thinking about it objectively I see no reason why PC shouldn't qualify on the grounds of what he has done for our football club and the wider community in general. He would deserve an honour in my opinion.

Steve Houghton obviously has the right contacts. He could put in a word for him.

The whole honours system is a form of unelected patronage used by those in power to control the mechanisms of society to their own ends. It should be disbanded along with those German leeches called the royal family.

I think a Knighthood would be disrespectful to Patrick given who in the town has been given one in the last few years.
