    I had that problem

And I know several others have had it. If you power down your modem, then wait a few seconds and turn on again, it usually recovers, only to fail again later. Was a right pain especially it you were in the middle of a bank transaction or something like that.

I rang them a couple of times but unfortunately since I can only speak English and German I had difficulty communicating with the support staff. Eventually someone on here suggested ringing at certain times of day (look at time zones when the non-English speaking countries are asleep) and apparently they have a call centre in Ireland which was a big improvement.

With a lot of threats to cancel etc etc they eventually got something "tweaked" at the exchange and since then it has been much better. Took some patience though.

Is Virgin cable or telephone line?

And how much does it cost?

I chose Sky because I am not here for long periods and it is only £5 per month so it seemed the best value. It works OK now after they have fiddled with it.

Bed and breakfast £30 per month!

I agree you have a really good deal :D

Seriously, no cable where I live, so would not be possible for me.

They also provide down BT lines. Not sure if it's the same price though mate. May be worth a call.

Just had a look - thanks

    http://allyours.virginmedia.com/html/internet/noncable.html

Costs £15 per month so 3 times more than Sky, but includes free evening and weekend phone calls though.

Not sure it would be right for me as I spend most of my phone bill on international calls, and the Sky is working OK, for the moment.
