Anyone been faced with their Digibox stuck permanently in standby mode?

Nothing I press on the remote makes any difference, nothing I press on the front of it makes any difference, the damn thing has just gone on strike.

Tried unplugging and plugging back in but still no joy at all ...

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

I was going to suggest unplugging for a minute and the plugging back in, but you've done that.

Try posting on digitalspy.co.uk somebody will be able to help.

Otherwise you may need an engineer, a couple of decent ones in town - callout is £25 , had half my channels out the other week and he had it fixed in no time.

I suggest a switch off for 15 minutes at least with the card removed. It can take this long to fully discharge the chips and capacitors.

Do you mean a full rest that effectively reformats the drive clearing off all recordings and your planner?
Is it in services menu? If not I think it's in the hidden menu, go in services and then key in "401" and press select - I think thats it anyway

    Glad it worked

I'm getting the hang of this Sky+ thing and I only got it last week, apart from the Sky football messing up on Sunday when I did back to back recordings and it didn't do the 2nd game although it said it was recording (I'll try that again this week), and Six Feet Under chopping off the last 10 mins but that was E4's fault cause the programme guide said it was a hour long programme and it was longer.

Got a new 80Gb box as well which are now replacing the 40Gb boxes as the standard box.

    Amazing bit of technology.

Theres a partly reset of the drive as well isn't there which is basically just a defrag so leaves your recordings/planner - worth trying that first in future. but if you didn't have any recordings on and knew what series links you had set up it's not areally a problem.

Has anyone else had problems with recording on Sky Movies 1 and 2? When its in playback following recording, the sound keeps dropping out.....rewinding and playing the affected clip again clears it, and then it will reoccur aain a little while later. 2 Engineers and 2 new Sky+ boxes have failed to cure the problem. Cue one dissatisfied customer sending irate letters to Sky? Any ideas? All other channels record and play fine.

Which box have you got? It's a known fault to do with Dolby Digital or 5.1 sound - theres a few discussions on Digital Spy forums about it, have a look on there, they may be able to help out a bit more. Trouble with replacement boxes is that you normally end up with a reconditioned box and the problem doesn't lie with the box but with the software.
Only recorded 1 film so far and not watched yet - also it was on Sky Movies 8 anyway I think.
