Is your screen cut off at both sides??? a few inches of each side are black.., is it something to do with widescreen etc..
Anybody else's like this.. and an idea what to do?
tia.

Football is always like that on ITV on digital. My freeview box is like that so I turned it off and just using normal tv for the match.
Yes - leave it It's called watching it in the format it is filmed. I get it on everything that is not filmed in widescreen as it's how I set the TV up rather than stretchyvision
its because the match itself isn't filmed in widescreen but the programme is being transmitted as widescreen. In the studio at half time you wont have the issue
Unfortunately tomorrow on Sky they will do as they have all season on the European mainland games - and that it zoom in on a 4:3 picture....my mate who has a 4:3 set found a game unwatchable as often the ball was off the screen. The number of widescreen tv's that are set incorrectly is amazing - but when places like Dixons also set them up wrong what can you expect.
So you prefer seeing a picture distorted then?! (doh) It's not "always like that" - if the game is played in England then they will be recording it in widescreen
its pretty simple you would think people could manage to change the setting its also the setting on the sky or cable box
I've adjusted a few family and friends Sky boxes where they have a widescreen set but they've not set the box to output the widescreen signal, so they are just stretching the 4:3 But I also prefer to watch programmes recorded in 4:3 as 4:3 So I have Sky box set to 16:9 widescreen and the TV on the auto setting so it takes the signal from the box to adjust the display
Services button;4 System details;1 Picture settings then adjust fromdefault 16:9 to 4:3. Sorry it's a bit late, I was watching the match.
RE: Services button;4 System details;1 Picture settings And then you can watch a stretched, distorted picture - what is wrong with people?!
RE: Agreed mate And its about 5 seconds behind on sky TV aswell.. so when someone has scored it happened about 10 seconds ago.
Why? Do you find it annoying if you are watching a film with lines top and bottom? It's only the same. What you are doing is watching the programme in the format it was made and meant to be watched.
I don't know, I just don't like it! I must be a bit tight cos I don't like to see any of the screen wasted!
RE: I don't know, I just don't like it! I must be a bit tight cos I don't Does my head in when I see a widescreen TV set up wrong - worst though is when people stretch a 4:3 picture when something is being broadcast in widescreen cause they haven't set the box up - those people should pack up the w/s tv and send it back! Pubs are the worst culprits.
