Thinking of getting it, currently have sky digital with sports & movies, any reasons why I should/shouldn't switch?
if you have a normal sky digibox, how much is it to "upgrade" to a + box. any offers or anything about that anyone knows of? plus I have one of those mouse things that allows you to watch/control from another room (not the multiroom thing) will this still work?
No reason why you shouldn't switch other than the cost perhaps. Works out at £199 if you are a current subscriber - however it's £99 if you have your existing box relocated to another room in the house and take out a multiroom subscription at an extra £10 a month. We did the multiroom which we find useful as ar lass can watch something whilst I watch the footy….end of any arguments over who watches what! Your Sky+ sub (normally a tenner) would be free as you subscribe to at least 1 premium package (i.e. Sports/movies) So a one off fee and then you can pay the same as you do now - you won't believe just how much having Sky+ will change the way you watch TV. I rarely watch anything as it is broadcast (other than live sport and news), see a new series is starting that you want to see - put it in the Sky+ planner (and set series link) and you don't have to remember when it's on - it will just record each episode for you. Sit down to watch TV, have a look what is on your planner and choose what you want to watch. Live football - going to be home after kickoff or want to make something to eat before the game….set it recording then start watching the game when you are ready…..10, 15 mins in you can start watching from the beginning. Many people said it to me before I got it - but it really will be one of the best pieces of technology you'll buy.
Got mine for £65 Best gadget I've ever bought. I gave them the loyle customer jargen (been with them 4 years!) and after 45mins on the phone they offered me an upgrade for £65 (without multiroom - so you don't have the extra £10 a month) inc install. Really easy to use just navigate with the existing guide and press the'R' button to record, also has time slip, can record one chan watch another, or record two chans and watch a previsouly recorded prog. Pause and rewind live tv up to 30mins. Altogether a great buy. I wouldn't pay £200 however, the new HD decoder is on it's way so I'd wait for that to drop, or for the Sky+ to drop because of it. Play the Loylty card and see how you go.
forgot Also have the 'sky link' in another room so yes you can watch everything on your second tv, including recorded progs and control. It's just like an extension on the signal. Great buy for £20.
I emailed Sky for this info the other day. Everything Eastender as said is true apart from the Sky+ and multiroom deal is £89.00 and the deal ends on March 31st 2006.
Ebay Buy one on Ebay from next to nowt.
http://search.ebay.co.uk/search/search.dll?cgiurl=http%3A%2F%2Fcgi.ebay.co.uk%2Fws%2F&fkr=1&from=R8&satitle=sky+plus+box&category0=

RE: multiroom or on its own? Multiroom. Because of the offer its £110 cheaper to have sky+ in one room and my old sky box in another room than just to swap to sky+!
Madness, but I don't care.

is there any minimum subscription to multiroom... or would I be able to do the same and cancel multiroom after a couple of months
RE: Ebay Nice idea but I don't like the thought of getting it fitted then all the hassle of sorting out subscription rates and suchlike. Probably more expensive in the long run, especially time wise.
RE: is there any minimum subscription to multiroom... I know I should really read small print but I didn't. I'd have no intention of cancelling anyway so it wasn't important to me. Sorry.
RE: multiroom or on its own? I considered mulitroom, but then you can't watch a recorded prog in the other room, with a sky link you can't watch different chans but you can watch a recorded prog in either room. make sense?
