Been having trouble with sky of late...bbc1, bbc2, c4, c5 work ok...itv london works (or something, but not channel 103)...then the rest seem to have spells of working, but usually not, with a message appearing about failing to get a signal.
Any ideas why this might be? I thought maybe the dish isn't aligned correctly anymore, maybe due the weather?

Weather could be it. I've got 2 dishes, one here and a bigger one in Germany (because it is right on the edge of the signal). The one in Germany can be used to forecast weather. When the picture starts breaking up, it means it will rain in the next 10 minutes. My wife uses it to fetch the washing in. The signal should be strong enough in the UK though, unless the weather is particularly bad. As you say, for some reason it affects some channels more than others. Press Services, System Setup, Signal Strength. As a guide, on my UK Sky box (Barnsley) I have signal strength about 25% of the bar and quality about 50% of the bar.

RE: thought Thrapston would have its own channel hi i had the same problem a few weeks ago sky wanted me to take a insurance outfor the repair either £10a month or £60 and that would repair either box or dish i thought it was a bit steep so i purchased a thompson lnd from ebay £6 and problem solved

It didn't cost me anything; I had sky+ put in a couple of weeks before the breakdown, and they should have changed the sky dish also but theydidn’t.
