Nar then Joe Average - he of reknowned (football) prowess - footballer in the ahem first division thinks (oops sorry my mistake) - whose agent thinks can get get him an extra 40-50% of his current wage, goes (England) cap in hand to his gaffa. Sez to gaffa (or rather his snidy agent does) - I'm worth £10/£20/£30/£40k/xxx (insert as applicable) a week more than Joe Below-Average (no relation by the way as that would infer some kind of immoral goings on) - cough up or Al go-on-strike (no not the Egyptian international) - we can't afford the council tax on our £25m mansion - or at least might not be able to when those (ahem) socialists gerrin power. Gaffa (who thinks the sun shines out of his own derriere) sez - 'here yer go - another £80k per week - that'll pay yer income tax waint it?' (no the gaffa int Macca - the barnsley accent is just for the bbs) Two weeks later Joe Average reports in injured - he's pulled his back - lifting his wage packet off the bloody floor after he'd dropped it! Not to worry though.......he and his (ahem) talented z-list celebrity better half are consoling themselves - they have just been seen maxing out their (in Mr Joe Average's name) credit cards in nitesbridge (their spelling not mine). What's this gotta do with sky? Well - let's put it this way - those who pay a Sky subscription unwittingly pay the wages/taxes of these footballers - whether they play or not. Put some of the people who subscribe to sky in the same (bad back) position - will MrJoe Average (or Mr Joe Below-Average for that matter) pay their taxes or wages? Every time Sky increase their rates just think of it as paying Mr Joe Average's (or Mr Joe Below-Average's) tax bill. I'll leave it at that.
Same goes for tv licence. Having a telephone and buying anything advertised on itv or at any football ground etc
I love sky sports.... oh hang on....lets go back to just 4 channels and all talk about what happened on corra norra. progress chaps progress...get with it hth
