The biggest thing I've noticed so far about this season is the complete lack of coverage of the lower leagues, I'd never noticed how poor the football league 1 and 2 actually is on sky sports news, now I know we are in the 3rd division but there's 24 hours of tv to fill but it's just the same boring stories repeated all the time, and even if they do show the goals from league 1 and 2, they just show one goal from each game. The goal they've just show was the Hourihaine mind... Fantastic Redfearn-esq free kick.

Sky Sports News is ***** to what they could make it. Not only on football do they basically focus on the Premier League, but they also give far too much coverage to football over any thing else. Always thought they should have different hours (football, rugby, cricket etc) with main sports headlines for 5 mins on the top and bottom of the hour.

Do it a bit more like ESPN do in the States when they have hour long shows - NHL Today, Baseball Tonight etc.

Sky Sports News is a ridiculous channel, they only use it to plug their own events, if the sport isn't on Sky, it doesn't exist.

Before Sky had the rights to Formula 1, it was barely given an mention (basically they'd just tell you who'd won), despite being extremely popular in the UK and around the world. Since Sky have shown live races it's as if they invented it.

I thought with the rebrand to SSN HQ they've improved the content but it's just the same old crap just on a different channel.

Can't work that one out - it was on 405 and the test channel for Sky Sports 5 went on 407. Would have made far more sense to just swap those over but no, move News to 401 and then you have Sky Sports 1 on 402, SS2 on 403 etc....bloody crazy (First world problems!)

Was the main thing I was prepared for when went down. Championship gets all sorts of interest especially BBC more so than Sky but League One is in the abyss. The match updates seldom with a reporter in picture.

I joked it'd be back to a mobile phone update from likes of Dave Bracegirdle or John darts Gwyn

No issue with that. No point giving competition free publicity.

With the HD channels scattered around too. Not that I'm bothered as I don't have sky sports but I did notice the silly channel numbering over the weekend freebie.

It's not so much them not saying that something is on another channel - it's more that because they don't have the rights to something means they barely give it a mention - it's supposed to be Sports News, so they should mention it.

Although the one that really annoys me is the BBC saying that you can listen to the game on 5 live, when the match is on ITV!

I was impressed in the States when I saw a TV channel mention about the world cup and pointed out it was being shown live on a rival channel.

Agree it's very focussed on the top leagues, but then again, can you blame them? When we were in the Championship, I wasn't that bothered about who Walsall might be signing or seeing the goals from Burton v Southend. It's great to see lower leagues getting attention but I suppose they have to give air time to whatever they consider to be of most interest. Remember there'll be a good number of casual viewers who's interest will struggle to stretch lower than the Championship. To be fair, I've always thought Sky Sports do a decent job of ensuring most League One clubs get at least one live game a season. Few other broadcasters would show football that low down (BT Sport show the conference granted, but only I assume in the absence of regular football league rights).

whatever you think about sky, sports coverage was absolutely terrible before satellite telly came along, you got a handful of matches every season and that was it.if you enjoyed other sports, like motorcycle racing you got nothing.
both the bbc and itv missed an opportunity when they had the airwaves to themselves, sky came along and all of a sudden we had live football every week.live motorcycle throughout the entire season, golf week in week out, fishing, all sorts. They revolutionised sports coverage in this country and forced the bbc and itv to get their act together.

I'm thinking of cancelling to be honest, these adverts for 2 years free broadband if you sign up for SKY sports is doing my head in, nothing for existing customers as per usual, paying for SKY sports, plus they're going to lose Champions League after this year. Might phone up see if I can get a discount.

Might be worth it. I got the renewal this morning for my British Gas Homecare for boiler/central heating cover and thought it was ridiculous. I found equivalent cover online through Homeserve for about a third of the price albeit included a £50 excess, though that was a year 1 amount and would double for year 2. I called BG to cancel it and they were able to give me a reduced amount by including the excess and then she said she could also include a discount! I got it for half the original renewal amount! I was happy to go with that.

I called their bluff and canceled 10 months ago, still waiting for an offer letter, I watch it via other means at the moment.
