My sky + box is stuck on standby. I have tried the basic methods i.e unplugging etc but nothing seems to work. Iv tried the press and holding 'back-up' and also holding down both buttons on either side of select. This is my last port of call before i call out a sky engineer for 55 sheets.

As anyone else had this problem and got it up and running again. cheers

I had the same problem about 6 months ago. Occasionally it would come back on, but got to the point where it wouldn't. I know someone else it happened to too. The failure coincided with Sky sending a offer of Technical Support cover after the guarantee ran out on both occasions. Makes you wonder if they send a signal to bugger up the box.

Sounds like it's had it mate.

Just got off the phone to Sky myself. Sky+ box kept turning itself off (auto-stanby off) and wouldn't record from 2nd input. Paid £65 on Monday, engineer came Wednesday and problem still same today.
After kicking off that I had been on phone for 2 hours over the course of this week they have refunded the £65 and engineer coming tomorrow to resolve once and for all.

Kick off that you have been on the phone for an hour + (lie if you have to), you want to cancel and they will wipe the £65 charge,

have you tried controlling it from the box itself?

pressing channel up or down or standby on there as it could just be your remote has stopped working (mine sometimes wont control it). If not tell sky to send someone out free of charge or you're leaving, they'll be round within 5 minutes and bring you a slice of cake too
