My sky + hard drive is nearly full and I don't want to delete anything if I can avoid it. Is it possible to transfer films etc to my computer?
Not that I know. I don't think Sky would allow that option to be available or there would be nothing to stop people recording shows to Sky+ to pass on to people who don't have it, and Sky would lose out. It's odd at times. Like every percent is suppose to be an hour so you can record 100 hours of TV. But sometimes on HD channels you end up using more and can take up 3% just for an hour show, so it soon dwindles down.
As stated, you can copy to a DVD recorder. I had one that also had a hard drive on so I copied over to the hard drive and could then rip to DVD. The only problem is that the copy facility only works in real time so it will take you a while to do.
you can actually copy them to your PC, but you cant play them due to sky encoding all video (for the reasons mentioned above). This might not be an option for you, but i put a 2TB hard drive in my sky box, i can record for hours and hours (up to around 1500 i believe, but i've never got that far. This does void the warranty i believe, so bare that in mind.
Replacing the hard drive would still mean being unable to access the original drive. Thanks for the advice everybody.
I used a program called Copy+ or something like that. A nice free program, it had instructions on the site for how to do it. I'm on phone right now, so i cant get you a link, but i will in a few hours if you like the encoding of the video just stops you playing it on PC - but you can put them on a different hard drive and play them on the sky box Edit: i managed to find it on phone: http://www.skycopyplus.co.uk/index.php looks like they now have something to let you rip Free To Watch Channels to your PC, but i havent used that one!
