Standard hard drive is 80Gb - gives approx 40 hrs of recording, there is a 160Gb version available as well but whether it's worth the extra or not is another matter - apparently it's fairly straightforward to replace the drives in them anyway - know a couple of people who have put bigger drives in.

    Costs etc here

    No

If you subscribe to either Sky Sports or Movies they waive the £10 fee, according to Digitalspy they are going to scrap the fee anyway...probably because they are phasing out standard Sky decoders and will in future just be supplying the Sky+ box.

As far as I know the extra tenner is for the HD version which costs £299 one-off fee

For the normal Sky+box there's no extra monthly fee

No extra monthly charge if you have sport or films - shows on sky statement and then gets credited off. I had i installed at Christmas (after ressting for months) and it's totaly changed my veiwing experience.....I'd never want to be without it and would recomend it to everyone.

    You'll get a 80Gb drive.

The standard used to be 40Gb, when I got mine they were just starting to roll out 80Gb as standard and fortunately I got one of the new boxes - that was about 18 months ago.

    No problem.

If you want any other info just ask, the digitalspy.com forum is a good place to look.

In terms of how much you get on the drive - I'm normally running at 20-30% free space although it's currently over 50%. I've also got a DVD recorder with a hard drive so I have offloaded a couple of films onto the hard drive there until I get around to watching them.

As many people say, it completely changes how you watch TV - you don't get the idea just how until you get it. But an example - the FA Cup game yesterday lunch time, I was going down to the supermarket half hour before it started so set it to record, got back and started watching the game 20 mins after it started. Apart from sport and news it's very rare I'll watch anything as it's broadcast - particularly on the commercial channels.
