I can now report back on several queries:

We currently have 16 wheelchair bays in the inside stand, sixteen situated at the front of blocks one and two in the South stand, nine on the raised platform in gangway five of the South stand and eighteen split over two raised platforms in the North stand. We currently have seven wheelchair users and four ambulant disabled supporters on the waiting list to go in the inside corner stand. Only two of the waiting list are not current season ticket holders.

Ambulant disabled can sit in any accessible area in the stadium.

Vicky (Box office Manager ) and Beth (Box Office ) are the contacts re disabled policy. Whilst they are not disabled themselves they are assisted by Joan Dawson who has assisted in the corner stand for many years caring for her disabled daughter, sadly who passed away some years ago. She continues helping out at all home games. She is also on the BFCST board re disabled issues and is shortly to be assisted by Martin Wilson who is visually impaired.

Any disabled issue relating to Oakwell and affecting the disabled members is discussed with the entire disabled fan base ( who currently hold seats)

The club works closely with Level Playing Field (previously NADS) and both Vicky and Beth have attended Football League and Level Playing Field
courses the most recent given by Joyce Cook Chair of Level Playing Fields.

Finally, the club have checked all recent correspondence and e mails and have been unable to trace any request to be involved in the recent TV programme.

I trust that this covers any recent queries, however, as usual if anybody has any queries on club related issues, they can ask via any of the clubs four Supporter Liaison Officers.

Do you know if there is an option to use the lifts for access to the East Stand Upper for disabled supporters?

Im looking at a season ticket, but having lost probably 85% of my mobility would find the large stair wells very difficult to get up(although i could probably manage to get down them at a push). I dont really want to sit in the lower tier as i don't think they are protected from the elements enough and sitting in extremely wet clothing would cause my illness to flare up again.

It would only be until a space in the corner stand became available as that would be the ideal place for me.

    Thanks in advance

    Kriss

Will take up your point. As you will be aware, the lift is only small and is inadequate for the existing sponsors and Chamber Of Commerce suite users. In addition although not knowing the legislation, i presume there would be an issue in case of fire etc.
I can't give you the answer but will ask the club for clarity. Hope you have got your name on the waiting list.

    Thanks for that!

Yes, im on the waiting list so fingers crossed wont be an issue in due course.

With respects to fire/emergencies etc, i understand if that prohibits the use of the lift. Its more of an issue of getting up the stairs, rather than getting down(if that makes sense?)

I'm sure I've seen an evac chair near the lift at Legends Suite level. I don't know if there's one at every level though.

Evacuation and safety have been the main reasons the club do not allow this and we have raised this a few times over the years.

Having the worlds slowest lift also doesn't help ;)
