I normally make my own but in recent years there's not been many sloes on the bushes round here. Might look into Tescos.
I also make my own WONDERFUL cider, gallons of the stuff from our village apples.

I like a tipple of normal gin 'Gordons' 'BeefEater' etc... but never tried Sloe gin. How does it taste is it similar to white gin ??

Nah, just a pretty little place near Lincoln. And I scrounge apples by the bucket load cos people are only too glad to get rid of them. I mean, what can you actually do with hundreds of apples off one tree?
Half an hour's gathering in October/November is enough to make about 20 gallons of cider... STRONG CIDER !!

Gather ye blackberries as well and make lots of apple and blackberry crumbles, delicious with cream or custard, not milk.

    Re: never had Sloe gin...

It's not remotely like normal Gin , although it is normal gin infused with Sloes ( the fruit of the Blackthorn ) usually about 26% ABV...deep purple in colour , and has a taste of it's own , slightly over ripe plum flavour . The closest relative I can think of is Slivovitz , which is distilled from plums .
Homemade is probably better as you can make it exactly to your own taste , but the Gordon's tastes b***dy good when you haven't had any for a while .
As much of a British Classic as Gin itself (although I know it has Dutch origins !!)
