Smith weighed in 4lb over. Gonna have another weigh in later with a revised catchweight. Pretty unprofessional of him IMO.
I was reading earlier that smith wanted the weights lower in initial negotiations as well so how he can be so far over is like you say unprofessional and a bit baffling...
Well, he did say he was going there to 'bomb him out'. Can't see anything but a Ward win. Looking forward to the Broner - Porter fight, more so.
To teach the 9th Smith put up more of a fight than many thought. Dunno how Ward is still rated number 1 in the rankings when he's barely had a fight for four years.
I've just seen the highlights and it looked like he just absorbed 8 rounds of punishment (1 decent round from Smith). I'd not call that putting up a fight.
Really dissapointed with Smith. Unlike his brothers i think Paul has always been the proverbial underdog and known for giving his opponents a run for their money. In this case everything seemed wrong about this fight, build up, weight, game plan, passion all out of place. For me i think he should retire and let Callum now take the limelight he deserves. As for Adrien Broner, pound for pound best talker in the game. Absolutely terrible boxer in that fight.
Agree to an extent, hard to criticise anyone prepared to get punched in the head for 36 minutes, but Smith's plan seemed to revolve around Ward breaking his hand on the top of his head or something. The Broner - Porter fight was a shocker. Broner spoiled and ran for all except one round. Should drop back to light welter and leave 10st 7 for the mesters.
