I think you will find smoking breaks didn't exist.

When I worked for the council you'd sign out and it would be in your own time. If that meant I had 30 minutes in a day smoking that 30 minutes would still need to be made up somewhere.

Maybe the hard working Barnsley council staff will show some solidarity with their Nottinghamshire colleagues and join them on strike.

    Or maybe not.

Even if they did all stick together, half a dozen people won't make much difference will it!!

smoking breaks used to drive me fking barmy when I managed a small company, you'd try to manage the workload equally then the smokers would piss off for a smoke break leaving people who relied on their work often twiddling their thumbs. You couldn't ask someone who wanted to work but couldn't to make up the time and even the smokers couldn't make it up really when there was a definite closing time.

If bosses/managers can't manage a relatively minor issue like this, then.....

They need to be asking themselves if they are in the right position.
No I don't smoke and Smoke breaks exist in my workplace, not an issue at all.
What next , stop toilet breaks? In fact, stop breaks full stop FFS.
