Passsing Oakwell on my work today, there are new signs up saying..... "Oakwell is a smoke free Stadium"</p> These are placed in front of all the turnstiles along the West stand and presumably alongside all the other stands, one would think.</p> Hope this clarifies any problems as to whether you can/cannot smoke at Oakwell this season. </p>
RE: Passsing Oakwell on my work today, there are new signs up saying..... i was thinking more of the other side of the turnstyles, which is inside the grounds but not inside the stand (that's if ya not familiar with the west stand), i kind of enjoyed my half time routine of nipping to the snack bar for a coffee then having a smoke near the luxurious toilet facilities
RE: Passsing Oakwell on my work today, there are new signs up saying..... The entire stadium is no smoking, anywhere and everywhere
RE: Passsing Oakwell on my work today, there are new signs up saying..... i know thats the official line, but they said that at the Hawthorns at the last game and we were still allowed to smoke (they opened a gate)
I'm well familiar with the West Stand I had a season ticket there for a year!</p> However, the fact that the signs say "Oakwell is now a 'smoke free' stadium" means just that.</p> No smoking anywhere in the ground.</p>
http://www.thefa.com/NR/rdonlyres/2...49741393/117532/SmokingBanFINALCIRCULATED.pdf taken from the above...................... "Given the wide range of designs of stadiums and/or stands with overhanging roofs it will not be possible to categorically state whether stadiums generally will be exempt. Each individual stadium and/or stand will have to be considered based on its design in order to work out whether it falls within the definition of substantially enclosed. Accordingly, some clubs may simply decide to designate the whole stadium as smoke free in order to comply with the new legislation. Even if a stadium is designated as smoke free the new legislation imposes specific requirements about signage (see Section 2 below). If you are in any doubt as to whether your club’s ground or premises are covered by the new legislation then you should contact your local authority as it will be in charge of enforcing the legislation within your area." Seems Barnsley local authority have decided to follow the spirit of the new anti smoking laws and chosen to make Oakwell non smoking. Well done.
ok, guess can't smoke then, sayin that it hasn't really hurt me as much as i thought when going to the local or round town, i'll live i guess, maybe a little bit longer with my opportunity to smoke cut down a bit!
