Just mentioned to our lass that BBC has one and a half hours of snap programmes. She, who is Irish says "why do they call it snap?". I have no idea, does anybody else? BTW Man U just scored.
Apparently its from the pits back in the day and the snap part comes from the tins they used to use. When they took the lid off it made a snap noise.
Yeah I've always thought it was a reference to the "snap box" or "snap tin" which would make a snap noise (onamaterpier!) when opened.
