Up here in Brontecestershire, woke up to bloody snow this morning - really bad over tops, couldn't get through. No idea about Oldham but as they're pretty high up, I'm assuming they've had a dollop. Hopefully not enough to jeopardise the game.
A bit of snow is forecast over that way tonight, can't see it putting the game in doubt but the weather in general looks pretty cr*p for tomorrow (cold and rain), stark contrast to the mild temperature and sunshine of last Saturday.
At least for the vast majority it will be a M1 and M62 journey. Those roads should be ok. It's not far off the M62 to oldham, is it ? Remember...... wrap up warm, like I've said before !!
I am in Oldham now and travelled over via Holmfirth this morning - the Holmfirth road was almost unpassable. Unless there is a significant improvement over the next 24 hours I would advise you avoid it and use another route.
Ah balls, that's the route we'd have been taking from Penistone. Suppose we can go up through Huddersfield then join the M62. Forecast for Oldham on the BBC suggests it's going to be hovering around 1/2 degrees C overnight then 4/5 degrees C with the odd bit of rain during the day. No mention of snow but we know how quickly that can change.
You are such a bearer of bad news That's always the route of choice. Up past Compos, straight past Forde Inn on the right that leads to Meltham and over the tops.
Would the route through Holmfirth not be recommended then? It's not a route over that way I've ever used before but it's obviously a lot shorter than going via the M62
Its a proper pain for me. I used the route a couple of times a week so looks like the M62 for my way home.
