Luck? No, I don't want to hear that. It takes hard work at this level. Hard work coupled with talent. You make your own luck by virtue of having mixed amounts of the other two attributes. There was NO reason whatsoever that we couldn't have taken at least a point from todays game. Not good enough.
RE: Luck? You don't want to hear that? Well that's my opinion mate. How anyone can provide an opinion that we didn't work hard and weren't good enough having not attended the game is amazing.
You went today then did you? Which players didn't work hard enough for you? Which players weren't good enough?
We lost 1-2 and again missed a plethora of chances... Add it to the list... Norwich Cardiff Southampton Sheff Utd QPR Game after game, we've missed vital chances that someone with a good striker would've put away and we'd be in the top half of the table. Sadly, we don't have someone who can hit the net consistently, and unless a substantial cash injection is imminent, I can't see that changing. If we continue to grind results out and defend well, then great. But up against teams in this league, you simply have to put your chances away, or you will get punished, be that with a deflected, lucky goal or a piece of magic. So what's it to be? Are we just the unluckiest team in the league? I think not. And yes, I am a ****.
No sir. I didn't. But I've seen enough of us this season to know the score. From what I heard, we had the chances to sew the game up and quite frankly, just didn't have the cutting edge once again, subsequently being punished late on. I feel a striker out of the mould of Cureton/Windass would be a superb additon to the squad.
So why mention work ethic? Surely if we were the better team and should have killed the game off then the work ethic was spot on, the ability was just lacking? Confusing yourself I feel.
No, no, no. Ok, look at it like this. Hull City have a good side, but what has made them into an even better side over the past two seasons is their work ethic. They never give up and as a result usually end up grinding out wins or draws. I obviously cannot comment fully on the work ethic today, but from what I've seen this season and from what I've heard today, we didn't close the lad down towards the end and as a result, he got his shot away and scored. We need to be switched on and working hard for 95 minutes. Fair enough, the goals today that we conceded were pretty cack, but to Prestons credit, they kept pushing and pushing and eventually reaped the rewards. You have to fight tooth and nail in this league to get points and we don't do that nearly enough. Coupled with poor finishing, we are going to struggle in a fair chunk of this seasons games. I hope we sign a striker soon, because the injury to Hume is leaving a big dent in our fire power.
Every team in the country who has lost by the odd goal is saying the same The fact is, unless you've got huge spending power, you'll miss lots of chances in this division as players aren't good enough to consistently finish them off.
that's a bit harsh - the reds deserved something today, and a missed, no make that blatant, foul prior to their first and a deflected shot took it from us
