we will get stronger as we go on - OK we didn't play well yesterday but trinidad played out of their skins and made it very difficult for us

nah , i know all the bull about geting better as we go on but we need to improve by 30 to 40% at least to be even on an even keel...

    No

We are simply not good enough. The selection of certain players is a total mystery (e.g. Hargreaves, Owen, Walcott...), We can be thankful of that clearance by our Mom last night, John Terry, as without that I believe we would have drawn at best.

30 / 40% to be better than who - i haven't seen a side that would definitely beat us as yet?

Both Brazil and Argentina looked average also.

We're not playing great so far but we have qualified with 3 points and conceded none!

30 to 40 % better that ourselves ! we have looked ordinary against 2 average teams , i take your point that we have qualified , scored 3 conceeded none , all promising , but thats all it is, promising,

we need to step up a level when we take on the better teams later in the tourney.

but what i mean is at present we don't look any worse than any of the major nations. granted we need to improve, but so do they.

    Yes we have a chance

all the teams that get out of the group have a chance. How much of a chance ? don't know it can all boil down to one slip, one bad referee decision or a piece of shear brilliance.

    Right cop out time

    Better chance than most

    Not as good as some.[IMG]

    Best chance in my lifetime

first time in yonks we've won first 2 group games, everyone that plays us from now on will be playing to win, conditions will improve, pace of games will improve, team spirit is high and the fans enthusiasm and numbers could act as 12th man.

Ryanair are offering Stanstead to Frankfurt return for £26, in case anyones interested.

Argentina looked good in their match

Best team so far imho are Spain, very strong with some depth as well. Senna is awesome.

Agree with that. It'll be interesting to see whether he starts Lennon against Sweden. Would mean shifting Beckham and I don't think Sven's got the balls to do that.

    He'll experiment

there's a few players who need games (Owen, Rooney, A Cole), likely to give them as long as poss, think Lennon is a definate to start, problem is who plays behind him? dont expect Beckham, Lampard and Gerrard to play full 90 mins, maybe a chance for Carrick...

Yes we are as good as anybody else. All comes dowm to a bit of luck in the knockouts. Just like us winning the play-offs. Yeah!!

Can Lennon have same impact from start against fresh players?

Lampard to the Bench, Beckham inside with Carrick , Gerrard out to the right where he plays for Liverpool.
