My top three would be Steve Davis, Nigel Adkins and Uwe Rosler, in that order. Would love Steve Davis, done a storming job at Crewe. I think that we'd get long term commitment from the first two, not so sure on Rosler. Then again, we're not notorious at returning it so no surprise there.
I personally think that after taking the job at Wigan he'll think twice before jumping ship again. Brentford are where they are now because of the foundations he built. I think if he brought us the same success he'd want to see it through.
Steve Davis. Not to say I wouldn't accept any others, I think Rosler could be a good shout. I've always rated Tisdale too at Exeter. One of those three and I'd be happy with it. It doesn't make me happy or owt that we're back in this situation and I believe Danny should have had until the seasons end at least, but I can only assume sumat went off we don't know about (yet). But aye, we're managerless and so those three for me. One of. But preferably Steve.
Rosler is a cracking shout. On the poll, there is a few lower league managers with not a lot of managerial experience. I'm sure Ainsworth, Hasselbaink and Beattie are all going to be top managers, but I hope we don't go down that route. Steve Davis deserves a chance at a bigger club but personally, I think he's got it good at Crewe and wouldn't risk walking into an insecure job, a bit like Graham Alexander at Fleetwood.
Hang on, what's going on here. Are we agreeing on something? Steve for me. He can't do more with Crewe than what he's already done, knows the club without being one of the legends, and plays attractive football. I think it would be a really easy deal to put together ........... and he could be in the dugout at the weekend against his old team!
He's a Barnsley stalwart of 7 years, part of our promotion squad, unluckiest BFC player probably in that he never got to play in the Premier League despite him helping us get there. Seems a good egg, is working with the smallest of budgets, gets Crewe playing good football, has them overachieving etc. I doubt he'd turn down BFC. I don't think Rosler would turn it down either. Not against Adkins either, now I remember. Some decent names there on paper. All with some success at this kind of level on little money.
He has one thing that may go against him, depending on how it ended with BFC and Danny - he's Danny's pal..
dont like the bloke, but warnock will get us out of this league ddont think he would come to oakwell so rostler for me
If Rosler proves too ambitious Davies would be my 2nd choice. Anyone mentored by Dario Gradi should have a solid footballing philosophy. Something I believe we lacked under Wilson. I cant really see past those two.
And it feels pretty obvious that it didn't end well with Danny, so that might rule him out from the start. He was my pick for the job last time around, but he's a year wiser now and saved Crewe from the drop on peanuts losing his best players.
He knows the name of the club. The actual reality of the club is as far removed from the club he left way back when as it could be
