<h1>In-demand Phillips to hold more talks</h1><p class="story_panel_text">West Brom are set to hold another round of talks with out-of-contract striker Kevin Phillips this week after Derby joined the race to sign him.</p><table border="0"><tbody><tr><td><div class="mainPic">[IMG] <div style="font-size: 11px; width: 300px; font-style: italic">Phillips: Holding out for two-year Albion deal</div></div></td><td><div class="article-tools clearfix"><ul>[/list]</div></td></tr></tbody></table><div class="editorialAdvert"><div id="advert_1"><div id="ad1">Phillips' representative expects to meet with Albion's board during the coming days with a host of clubs waiting to discover whether the 34-year-old plans to extend his career at The Hawthorns. <div class="pageLayout">

West Brom hope to retain the experienced goal poacher next season after winning promotion to the Premier League but prolonged discussions over a new deal have failed to reach a successful conclusion. </p>

The former Sunderland forward, who will turn 35 before the start of the 2008-09 campaign, is looking for a two-year deal which would conceivably take him to the end of his career. </p>

But Albion have so far only offered Phillips a one-year deal - and that stand-off has seen a number of other clubs, including Derby, Barnsley and League One Leeds, linked with his signature. </p>

However, Phillips' agent, First Artist's Phil Smith, is refusing to discuss transfer talks with any other side until West Brom have presented their final contract offer to him. </p>

Smith said: &quot;Until we've spoken to West Brom, we won't be holding conversations with anyone else.&quot;</p>

If Simon wants him.................Pat will do all he can to get him

If Simon wants him, and he dosen't come, then it will not be because of the efforts to sign him

I totally 100% hope you are correct and he comes......but....

our hopes have been upped on class players before... "well we tried but the player would not come... we could not agree terms" ..that old chestnut, cynical I may be, but its like Deja Vu, we been there seen it done soooooooooooooo many times now.
