I've subscribed for 3 years now but I have to say, the value I'm getting isn't the best. Even now, there's been nothing on there since they posted highlights of QPR 27 days ago. I know we've not had much going on but come on.....

Some of the videos posted last year didn't work, there's been issues with the wrong video (from a previous game) being posted. The helpdesk is a joke and nothing to do with the club.
Sadly this franchise isn't the best and something which could be great for those of us who can't get to every game isn't what it should be.
The positives are the press conferences with the manager & some player interviews.
The match commentary - well sometimes it's good and difficult to be positive when we're playing like a sack of *****.

Now that we have our own Youtube channel and other links (such as audioboo) are being posted I'm thinking of cancelling for next year. Any thoughts chaps?
Anyone with insider information about what plans there are to make it better?

I've been a bit annoyed with Player lately with the lack of full match replays (just checked now and they are actually on there, but why do I care now? I wanted to see them a few days after the event to keep the hope alive). The way I see it though, is that Barnsley FC get more money for your subscription than it actually costs you, so even just using it for commentary is worth it for me. I will want to see a big improvement next season compared to the end of this one though (and I don't just mean the football).

i have been thinking the same all season, and have and are using the same arguments for either keeping or not.
however it is good for away commentary , when it works, few issues last season they didn,t like the complaining either, and when they put the full games on its good, for what it costs as a one off payment i think i would miss it more if i didn,t renew so i will be renewing . but i totally understand anyone not doing so,

I didn't know that. I suppose this is a reason for keeping.
I do agree that they need to be a bit more prompt with getting vids on there.
More exclusive material would be welcome too. I liked the pitchside interviews the year before last but can understand managers / coaches not fancying this as part of the match prep....

I have subscribed for 3 years and was going to cancel as the updates are often poor and exclusives less and less. Not sure now as I know the contributions that the club gets??????????????

Never wanted it. I go to all home games, rather than listening to our away games i'd rather watch Soccer Saturday. Any decent match highlights will be shown on Football League show free of charge. We have the likes of Audioboo, Chronicle and Radio Sheffield to keep us informed.

I do understand where folk are coming from, as I do think the product was poorer last season, as the club became more interested in uploading things to youtube. But it's got live commentaries on it, video interviews, post and pre match etc, and the money (it int much, is it?) goes into the club. And if you think ours is bad, you should check out others. Of the many I've perused, ours trumps 90% of them. Middlesbrough's for example, isn't even Player. It's called Boro+ and so it's a seperate subscription. They don't ever have extended highlights, nor full match replays. In fact, we are one of just a handful of FL clubs to offer that.

But it's each to their own etc.

'Decent' match highlights on the FLS, for free?

For one, you pay for a TV license. Two, they're as far from decent as it can get, and will only be worse this coming season. I hear you on the audioboo thing, but I prefer watching the interviews, seeing the managers/players face. And as said already, the club make good money on the small fee you pay over a season. But again, it's each to their own.

    I personally think its great.

The commentary is really good if you can't get to the game. A lot does go out on Facebook, but as the club benefits massively I have no problem handing out my hard earned cash.

I'll be letting the renewal be taken, but I think it needs to up it's game this coming season.

Whitey is right that it has some very good features and it is great value for money. I tend to try and watch the full games rather than the football league 2 minute digest but last season they were very slow (i can understand their thinking with so many defeats if that was the rationale) but they need to work on it rather than youtube in my view.

Pushing stuff into social media channels obviously has to be done but when that content is mirrored in player, it's eventually going to lead to a value for money question.

There were also minimal player interviews too. Maybe because players couldn't be bothered? But again, it was there the previous season, so it felt like less value because it wasn't there.

Towards the end of the season I found myself listening to Radio Sheffield audioboo because pre match manager interviews were taking so long to upload.

Hopefully they'll keep doing the commentary and full match highlights and every now and then try and be a bit creative. The corner challenge was good fun with O'Brien, Cywka and Jennings. And the year before the come dine with me footage.

I will probably renew - I cant get to all the home games and only about 1/4 of away games so the commentary is the main reason
I also really liked the full match replays when they were put on a few days after the game. the way they disappeared this season was very annoying so i do hope thats fixed for next season
not too fussed about interviews etc - anything important appears elsewhere but they are nice to have

The main reason I subscribe is to watch highlights, full match replays and for the commentary.

The highlights get posted on YouTube about the same time as they come available on player. The full match replays seem to be getting slowly dwindled out of the package and ill be getting to more games this season than last so is it worth paying the money for maybe listening to match commentary maybe once or twice a month. on the plus side, it is only a fiver a month or whatever it is. Hardly breaking the bank.

I will renew (now that I know money goes to the club - even tho I'm Centenary, season ticket holder & always buy merch for me and my son) but it would be good to have a point person identified that you could sent 'constructive' comments to rather than the technical folks who run the generic 'Player' franchise.
