Surprised thst this hasn't been mentioned yet.

Looks like Rangers will not be allowed back into the SPL.

Assuming that they go into Division 3, Alloa Athletic might be kicking themselves for finishing as champions last season bearing in mind the lost revenue from not playing Rangers! A very expensive promotion! Also, I wonder what's going to happen when Rangers go away to some of these teams, bearing in mind that some of the grounds are little more than parks with a fence round the perimiter. Could be very interesting!

The whole situaiton is a massive headache. Assuming they go into the third division, who takes their place? Is it relegated Dunfermiline or 1st division runners up Dundee? The fixtures would then have to be altered again.

    My boss supports alloa

    He's gutted.

I'm hope Rangers don't go straight back in the Scottish Prem. It needs some of these high profile clubs to learn a lesson.

I think I read somewhere that Dundee will go up. But that would seem strange to me.

I posted in one of the various Portsmouth threads on here that I thought this is what should happen to all clubs that go into admin, they should have to start again from the bottom of the pyramid, if it's a new company it should be a new club. Perhaps it would be a real disincentive to overspend rather than just a points deduction.

Dunfermline seem absolutely convinced that it will be them who takes the spare place. About the fixtures, I don't think it's going to be that much of a headache as they were released with the eventuality of Rangers' demise incorporated from what I've read.

They won't. I believe it's now six clubs in the SPL that have publically confirmed they will be voting against their readmission and they needed at least six clubs to vote with them. I dont know where they will end up but division one is looking the most likely destination on their way back to the top two of the Scottish pub league.

    Re: My boss supports alloa

I'm not sure they'll even get admitted to Division One as Falkirk and Raith haver already started making noises about not wanting them there as it would effectively mean that the only promotion place would be taken before the season even started. If I understand correctly, they need a unanimous vote from the SFL to be admitted directly into the First Division as it would require the rules to be changed. Obviously they would win Div 3 at a canter, but I would imagine the clubs in that league would be more than willing to forsake the chance of promotion for one season bearing in mind the bumper paydays they can look forward to. If any positive comes out of the whole sorry saga, it is that the wealth in Scottish football will be much more evenly distributed, at least for a few years. Plus the chance of other clubs getting into the Champions League should lead to a much more competitive SPL, which can only be good for the Scottish game as a whole.

    I think it's ****ing hilarious.

If I was Pompey fc fans I would be very nervous indeed. I suspect the fa may look at something in e near future along these lines.

Some high court judge has managed to upset hmrc as well by saying they should be issuing winding up orders EARLIER so more creditors have a chance of a pay out.

    That could be interesting indeed.

I bet the same doesn't go for the the Bradford Bulls in rugby league.

Just gone into admin and have 10 days to find a buyer before liquidation. Im sure if the do go into liquidation a new Bradford team will be formed,

But no doubt the super league clubs would vote them back in

Quite ironic if Rangers are replaced in the SPL by cash-strapped Dundee who have been doing the administration hokey cokey for the past however many years.

The real Rangers fans wouldn't mind going down to the Third Division as they'll be visiting a whole load of different stadiums with their club formerly known as Rangers.

Rangers and their history no longer exist, it's a bit like MK Dons trying to claim Wimbledon's history.

From what I heard the other day it sounds like they'll go into Div 1, the Div 3 clubs originally thought they wouldn't mind but the combination of effectively taking a promotion place away from them and the policing logistics of dealing with an invasion of Rangers fans seems to be putting them off.

You're correct, there is a vote coming up and it involves all Scottish league clubs. I don't know what % of clubs need to vote or what will happen but it would be very interesting to see them made to restart at the bottom of the pyramid. I have to say I really admire the stance taken by the fans up there.

One of Rangers arguments to other clubs is to think of the lost revenue in ticket sales/tv money/etc. but they seem to have forgotten how every club has 4 times the amount of policing when their mindless, horrible fans turn up singing their songs about killing Catholics and start wrecking the place.

    Re: My boss supports alloa

I think that once the original Rangers cease to exist and it is decided who will replace them in the Premier, a vote will be put to the remaining 29 Scottish Football League clubs as to whether newco Rangers should be admitted to division 3. For their application to be successful, 23 must vote in favour. By the way, I must agree with you that the fans' stance so far has indeed been admirable. I just hope that they don't cave in and let them straight into div 1, which wouldn't be much better morally than allowing them straight back into the premier in my view.

So if division 1 don't want them and division 3 also don't want them, where next? The Highland League?!

    Rangers 0, Gala Fairydean 1

    Quality!

    Re: My boss supports alloa

It shows that fans can get their opinions heard at board level if they say the right thing and say it loud enough. The third division would seem the fairest place to put the new Rangers (considering what’s below the third division) but wouldn’t there be an argument from the non league clubs up there who can't get into the league. In recent years Elgin, Peterhead, Annan and Inverness have got into the league although I'm not sure whether it was through promotion or application for election. Liquidation can cause chaos in the league structure (more so in bigger structures like ours) and what has to be ensured is integrity and that innocent clubs aren't punished because a promotion place is taken from them. I hope the Scottish clubs and FA set a good example.
