...is the server Windows (or as my mate used to call them "a Gameboy") or UNIX? I suspect the former if a reboot was required due to degradation of performance. More memory leaks than my old brain! Regular scheduled reboots always seemed to be he order of the day where servers were MS whereas Unix boxes seemed to run forever!

Its Liniux but I've found more recent windows server releases much better in that respect.

Interesting that as the bugbear of all the servers I used to work on that were Windows platforms (NT and later) were notorious for memory leaks to the point where maintenance programs included monthly scheduled restarts OOHs. My new PC and also the laptop (albeit both WIN7 Home Premium) still slow considerably without regular reboots. Unix servers used to run for months with no issues ad very little, if any, performance degradation.

I do have a problem when posting. Don't think it is down to me being in Italy as it happens with or without the encrypted VPN UK IP address I often use. The first sentence usually types OK then the inputting starts dropping characters (as it is doing now) so it takes ages to type or I have to post onto notepad then copy paste... Example normal speed typing.... Thiss a test oftypin at normaspeed. Ca you see how many characters are missing. Of curse it s a bit random bt isa particlr proble if I go bak ad try to inest an additional sentence inthemiddle of thtext.

Don't know if anyone else has this problem. Been like it for months now

Apparently, the forum software, according to some, also makes me either Nigel Farage or racist scum!!
