Been up there a couple of days. Very windy and quite cold but looking at the BBC news just now I think we had a lucky escape getting away when we did. There was a terrible hold up on the A1 near Marr, and my TomTom predicted a 63 minute delay - never seen one that long before. Luckily we did the sensible thing - off at the M62, then M18, Thorne, Bawtry and home. Lucky to get back in one piece I think (and the house is ok too!)
Yes so I heard, although the weather forecast includes a bit of snow and ice for tomorrow. I know the lowlands don't get it that bad but I was still glad to get back ok. The crosswinds on the A1 were really bad coming down and I have never seen so many overturned lorries in all my life. PS have you been near that "Edinburgh Christmas" market? What a rip-off! Not a patch on the proper German ones you get (in Germany!). I would be surprised if they sell much. Looks nice though, with the big wheel and all the lights
Thanks. Feel sorry for the people on the coast - highest tides in living memory they are saying. Hope the North Sea tsunami doesn't reach you!
We had a bit of snow this afternoon, but nowt to write home about! The Glasgow Christmas market is awful, but I've heard the Edinburgh one is a bit better. I'll be at the Dusseldorf Christmas market in exactly 15 days!
Glad you got home safely ....pretty hairy out there at times today! Berlin ones in 17 days for us Can't come quick enough
Ahhh....Dusseldorf. Happy memories. Been to that one lots of times - I was stationed at Rheindahlen in the early 90s so Dusseldorf was the nearest big place. Proper market, spread over several squares in the city. Hope you enjoy it
Bet that one is spectacular. Never been there at Christmas but been to Berlin at other times of the year. Wonderful place.
5 markets within 1/2 a mile radius of the hotel ( next to the cathedral) . Skating rinks, funfairs, food, drink (every other stall sells one or the other ). All open Christmas day and thats where the German families seem to meet for their festivities and get togethers.
