    no...

"He can have a two or three year deal, it is up to him"

that isn't picking his own length of contract, that's choosing between two options

it might be down to the amount of payment if he gets the chop or gets poached away.

    RE: sorry.

as long as notice period is the same, length doesn't matter.

    Maybe

It's Gordon's way of telling him how highly he's (now) valued by the club! ie. "We'll bend over backwards and give you as much security as you want to stay!"

    i can see a difference

'picking the length of his own' (careful!) implies it is entirely up to him and we will accommodate whatever he wants. If this were the case I'm sure he'd ask for a 5 year deal with full compo if it goes tits up.

the 2 and 3 year deals offered may have different conditions attached. thus giving Andy a choice may be better than saying "this is what you will get - take it or go to Weds." remember GS's position has been weakened by their interest.

and remember, GS has been running businesses since the coffee trade was discovered!

    so it's gone from...

    and I paraphrase....</p>

'we'll not discuss another contract for Ritchie till the existing one has nearly ended'</p>

    to</p>

'we've formally rejected an approach from Wednesdays to talk to Ritchie'</p>

    to</p>

'we're willing to discuss new contract terms'</p>

hmmm.... someone getting worried??  is there more to this then they're telling us???</p>

erm, as for the first point, that was never said, you just made that up!!!

on the radio, shep said, we're scheduled to talk about the contract in autumn.

it really does piss me off when people mis quote just to help an argument along, cos once chinese whispers start, then they're hard to stop.

maybe the contract should ahve been extended over the summer period, but thats entirely different argument to saying that shep said he would negotiate near the end of AR's contract.

personally, i reckon AR is staying, im sure of that, AR has spent time and energy building a team he wants, he has refused to bring in other players so not as to disrupt team loyalty, he's maintained faith int eh players that brought us up last year and believes they should be given a chance.

from what i heard on the radio, AR and GS meet daily and have a good relationship, he's staying. no doubt.

    what makes you think that?

Do you have a source for your thinking?

RE: what makes you think that?

me? not a source, just guessing like the rest of us, i generally dont see GS and AR having a bad relationship, remember, it was GS that took a risk on AR as full manager, and we have all been rewarede with the loyalty that GS has shown AR. similarly, no doubt, AR will be grateful to GS for teh chance.

similarly, we know, as AR has said it, that he wanted to keep a broadly similar team to last year, besides togwell and mcbigtoe, thats pretty much happened, we know some money (although i accept not how how much) has been offered to AR, although early int eh seaon didint PC offer some fair bucks to AR to stregthen (or did i just make that up?) but AR still didnt...

it seems to me GS is letting AR do the job of a football manager. and GS is doing hsi job of looking after the strcuture of the club.

but this is simply from what i read and hear, trying not to let emotion or cack ghanded remarks on here get int eh way and confuse matters.
