I wouldn't have said we were poor played some decent stuff at times when it went to 1 a piece I though we would go on n win. We had enough chances to win 2 games isgrove hit post,Winnall header that Lee got down to, Hammill's effort off the line a stonewall penalty.....
I thought we were distinctly average in first half. We upped our performance in the 2 nd half and played well. Our luck was out, hitting the post twice and having a stonewall penalty turned down by a poor excuse for a referee who I can't believe is allowed to do his job.
For the last few games we have lacked urgency in the first half which gives the opponents hope . If we had shown the intensity of the last 30 minutes throughout todays match we'd have had it sewn up . Got to say though that Chesterfield certainly deserved something from the match. We just take too long to get going .
Last 2 games for me have seen hourihane and Brownhill playing more tippy tappy sideways and backward balls in both first halves, a bit reminiscent of earlier in the season under Johnson. Tempo needs to get back to what it was once Hammill arrived and breathed confidence into the players. Still a 45 minute team and have been for seasons narr in the main.
Isgrove, Winnall, Hourihane, Roberts and Hammill all had chances and should have scored... Add to that a clear penalty we should have had for handball. Could have been a very different scoreline...
But all our good efforts happened in the second half. So Chesterfield could say if they hadn't missed the sitter, Davies palmed one over the bar etc they could have been out of sight in the first half. It's all ifs football. They dominated possession and scored with ten men and still looked the better team. We should just accept we got what we deserved, lost to the better team and hope we get three points on tuesday.
Unfortunately, that quote applies to a lot of our games. I wish we could play the same in the first half more often.
We could have won that game yesterday by 5. Barring that absolute sitter they missed they didnt really offer much and we missed some great chances and had two stone wall penalties turned away. One thing though that needs addressing is the way we start games, we have a big big problem in getting going Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
