I'd have been more convinced if he'd turned his numbers over after the start button had been pressed.
Possible theory I found... There is a legal requirement of (i think) a 7 second delay on transmitted visual images to your TV and a 3 second (i think) delay on transmitting sound to your TV. Obviously most TV companies transmit both together after 7 seconds so they match. Sound and... Read More vision are transmitted on different wavelengths. As this is being transmitted on channel 4, I am certain channel 4 are in on this as they will obviously benefit. All they need is someone witnessing the draw live, transmit this to DB by a radio link, he transmits the audio, which will get to our TVs faster than the visual. The visual does not have to match the audio and im sure they will have thought of some way to mask this - probably a bit more sophisticated than a still!. Obviously there is a 3 to 4 second gap in which all this has to be achieved. Anyway, it will give the impression to the viewer that he has guessed the numbers.
He said something about it being a years work - Did anyone see his show about gambling/the races ? It's all about numbers, he seemed pretty rushed. I think he's made a recording of every combination (about 14 million) over the last 12 months or so, of outcomes, and at the moment the last ball was drawn, the video was played of the correct one. If someboby had a library of all the combinations, they could play the right one at the flick of a switch. Tht's my bet anyway as I don't believe he could predict them !
RE: Possible theory I found... If thats so, his programme on Friday about how he actually did ity aint gonna be much cop
The part of the screen where the balls he had predicted was fake then when the numbers had come out someone switched the balls in real time (which is behind the fake one that we are seen) then when he goes to turn them round the one we are seen is removed from our tv screen.
Wouldnt it be more than 14million videos if he recordered every option As its 14million to 1 in getting the correct numbers, but them coming out in that order would be a lot more.
No because he lined them up in numerical order. Like they do at the end of the draw when confirming them. He didn't 'predict' the numbers in the order the were drawn.
RE: No because he lined them up in numerical order. The balls are completely white so you cant see them moving. Within the stand is a very thin line inkjet spray and a motor / conveyer bed to rotate the balls. When the results are read out Derren does some jiggery pokery including writing the numbers down to give his glamourous assistance time to input the numbers into a computer and to press "print" The inkjet sprays and the balls spin and are printed. He did state that he is trying to predict at least 5 from 6 balls. This gives the glamorous assistant the option to make a typo as time is tight. Once the numbers have printed he turns the stand round. ta da. Getting the ball stand motors, inkjets and timing of everything just so is what has taken a year.
as always with derren brown he will show you on friday night but then add a twist that once again make it unbelieveable. he dint show the balls at the start because there is now way he could have predicted it. If could do you relly think he would be doing it on tv - he'd be doing it in real life! lol i think its summert to do with image manipulation using special effects but that wont be how he' said hes done it. Looking forward to friday though - i like the stuff he does. That "the heist" was pretty good too.
