Why didn't we accept the £1.8 million bid from another club last month??
We could've bought 3 or 4 decent players for that kind of money!! :'( :'(

    Maybe, just maybe

They thought keeping a fully fit, fully committed Brian Howard until at least January would be worth enough points to have us sitting pretty in mid table, then get him to either sign a new contract or sell him for half the price? Survival in this division is worth more than a million quid anyway.

What they didn't anticipate was Howard spitting the dummy out and turning in performances they simply don't do him justice as a footballer.

It isn't like he handed in a transfer request is it?

Maybe he did hand in a request

or let the club know he wouldn't sign a new contract no matter what the wages offered.

Hopefully a few things will become clear on Monday.

I'd say its fairly obvious (putting 2 and 2 together)..

that we didn't want to lose him until Anderson had returned to play in the centre of the park.

Anderson's first 90 minute game coinciding with Howard being dropped from the squad would suggest that Davey didn't want to lose him until De Silva was back in the fold to avoid leaving us even shorter in the centre of the park.

Whatever happens, we need to bring a strike partner for Hume to replace Howard's goals in very quickly or we're never going to get out of the drop zone.
